Hi Friends! My name is Udhan Isuranga. I'm 22 years old and I'm from Sri Lanka. Currently I'm studying at University of Moratuwa. I'm following a Computer Science and Engineering Degree there. I am a very enthusiast individual on competitive programming. I oftenly participate in programming contests on Hackerrank, Codechef, Codeforces and Topcoder. My main hobbies are watching cricket and travelling. These days I'm very much engaged with IPL :). I love to travel a lot. My country has so much eye-catching places to visit. I hope to share my travelling experiences with you in future. I like to enter your steemit society and hope that you all help me.

Hello, Udhan, and Welcome to Steemit.

I've heard Sri Lanka is growing and developing much over the past few years. (I visited in 2010, and was impressed by the people and the country on the whole.)

If you can write, you'll find that Steemit is a great platform where you can introduce various aspects of your country. Whether that be a travel blog or whether you cover any other topics, you'll find an audience here on Steemit.

It will take time and diligence. But if you persist and create a high-quality blog, you will inevitably succeed.

Below are a few basic points of advice re posting on Steemit.
1 – Longer posts are more lucrative than short posts. If you make a post of 20–30 paragraphs, it's more likely to earn rewards.
2 – Include some photos, images or graphs, to complement the text.
3 – Make sure the text and photos are formatted properly, so that your post looks attractive and appealing.
4 – Be yourself.
5 – Be interesting and informative.
6 – Create quality content. Steemit is intended to be a platform of quality content. (You will see many insignificant posts with meager content and no quality. Most of those of posts [called “shitposts” by Steemit whale Stellabelle] will earn few rewards and soon pass into oblivion.)
7 – Get online and start curating. Read various posts, comment on those posts you find interesting, and upvote those posts. That’s the best way to attract followers.

One more point. Submitting photos in the various photo contests is a great way to earn a bit of Steem and to attract followers. Here are links to 3 contests.

For entries into those photo contests, short posts are OK. But it's a good idea to add a bit of text explaining the photo, to give the post some meat and to make it more interesting.
