Hello from a musician, artist, and poet joining the Steemit revolution

Hi, I'm @thebigdelay. I'm a musician, songwriter, poet, and artist based in Glasgow.

Here's me jamming in our wonderful Kelvingrove Park.

Looks relaxing right? A great atmosphere for creative souls?

I moved up here from London two years ago this week, with the assistance of my best friend, and with all my belongings stashed in a shopping trolley. Here's me doing that:

One of the reasons I moved up was to dedicate more time to my art, leaving my hectic past life in London behind. Glasgow's such a chilled out place to do that and has a wonderful creative community.

Here's me performing one of my original songs:

And here's me performing one of my poems:

I've been working as a freelance blog writer whilst looking for ways to focus on my music and other creative projects. I sincerely hope Steemit could be a game changer for me. For the first time, I've actually been making money directly from my music. I genuinely think Steemit could revolutionise how artists make money in the era of the "gift economy".

I've been on Steemit for about 2 weeks and have already had some great responses, and made a few dollars. But most importantly, I've found a creative and ambitious community of artists dedicated to making this a revolution that benefits the many and which could end the era of the starving artist.

Here's one of my ambient music tracks:

Thanks to everyone who has supported me in this short time, including @kiloindigo for recommending the site in the first place, and other creative talents like @dandelion, @vegannomadchick, @juliakponsford, @roaming.kuba, @winstonalden and many other including curators like @luzycypher and @robyneggs.

I've also been posting my photos. Like this one:

I also do strange cartoons. Here's one:

If you want to know more about me, you can check out my Soundcloud account, and download my music for free or pay what it's worth on Bandcamp. I've started regularly posting videos to Youtube, so do subscribe for more content. But most importantly, please follow me on Steemit and check out my posts. I try and reply to every comment so do say hi below.

It's great to be here :) Vive la revolution!

Awesome that you joined steemit! Youre a great musician and hopefully you will love it here as much as I do.

Thank you for your kind words. I've really enjoyed it so far and hope it will get even better :)

This is a very beautiful painting ... it looks real and the coloring technique is very great .. anything you painted really beautiful and great.I hope one day you want to paint my face @thebigdelay

Thanks :) It's actually a photo retouched to look like a painting. I'm glad you saw the resemblance.

Can't wait for you to showcase your creativity in steemit! Following you! Hope you follow back. Have fun :)

Great intro post, nice to finally learn a little more about you :) I just redid mine last week because I felt like my first one was awful!

Cool, thanks: send me the link and I'll up and resteem....

Cool, well I've upped it. Very nice track!

great performance....keep it up

Welcome to steemit, happy to have you here

Thankyou, I feel very welcomed :)

The Wife and I would love to relocate to the UK but of course the visa requirements are not kind to Americans, so as it is we can only spend six months a year there and not work. But we're still flirting with the idea of finding an affordable place to spend part of the year. It sounds like you like the scene around Glasgow so I'd love to hear more about it.

It sounds like the move was right for you but I'm curious what you were doing in London?

Yeah, visas are tough here. Glasgow's a great place, it's beautiful and has a brilliant community feel. It's also quite cheap ;)

I moved to london just over 8/9 years ago. It felt like the right thing to do at the time, and I think it was. But the vibe there now is not great for struggling artist types. It's too expensive, too intense.

The dream for us would be six months in the UK, then the three months we're allowed in Europe (the "Schengen area"), then three months back in the US. But of course we have the pesky distraction of having to make an income while we do all this gallivanting. Scotland does sound like a beautiful place and a good way to keep our costs down.

Ace, well you'll just have to steem yourself across the continent!

awesome post...........and audio as well. i love music. keep it up .see you soon.
upvoted you.
