Hi Steemit :D
Heyo Steemians! I am @the-vile-maxim, and I am very excited to have found Steemit!
I can see this community is already gaining tons of interest, and I am so excited to watch it grow. I think Steemit has the potential to bring tons of blockchain focused projects in front of the right people to bring good ideas to fruition. I also have the feeling this is going to become THE place to spread and discuss all sorts of amazing ideas!
So let me tell you a bit about myself :)
My name is Ted, and I live in Holland, MI. I am married and have two kids. I work for a company named Gentex, where i help build car mirrors for every major car company. I know what you are thinking, and yes, it's pretty exciting work.
I am into tons of random stuff, but at heart I am a musician. I have been playing guitar for about 17 years, and have recently been trying to put myself out there more. I have been helping out with a friend's band and playing trumpet for them at a few shows, and that has already helped me get used to performing a little bit. But I think Steemit will be an excellent way to spread my wings a bit more :) In fact, just today I entered into the Steemit Open Mic Competition which is hosted by @luzcypher on a weekly basis. If that sounds interesting to you, please check out the main open mic post here. Also, my personal entry is here if you would like to take a look.
Aside from music, I am also an avid skier, and have been teaching my wife and kids how to ski. Now they all can hold their own, and I get to just see them have fun. I am starting to get pretty pumped for the upcoming season :D
I have recently started learning about cryptocurrency and blockchain tech, and I am absolutely fascinated. I am investing as well because I truly believe it is the future.
I also enjoy philosophy, politics, physics, art, video games, movies, and t.v. so you may see me post or comment on any number of these topics and more. Honestly, I am not really trying to become some big well known guy, I just really want to see this platform succeed because I think it is a smart idea, and very refreshing.
I hope you will join me on this journey. :)
A sincere thank you goes out to anyone who reads this. I really appreciate you taking the time. I'll see you around!

Welcome to Steemit. I just had to follow someone with the moniker "the vile maxim." (Mr Smith, I presume.)
Best of luck on Steemit. It's an amazing platform with tons of potential. It will take a bit of diligent work to "succeed," but after a month on here, I can say that it's a pleasure taking part in this venture. Whether it's creating content or curating, it's probably as much fun as working in an auto-parts factory. Well, nearly ...
(Formatting note: I see these marks around your photo ... ![]( ... and ... ). For some reason, they appear before and after any image when you paste it. So, after pasting, just wait until the image is fully uploaded and the full link appears, then delete those 5 marks from the front and rear of that image's link. Hope this helps.)
Haha! Thank you! I was wondering how to get rid of those marks, I really appreciate that! I am very excited to learn and grow here on steemit, and I look forward to lots of great conversations!
welcome @the-vile-maxim! hope you have a good time here. If you have any questions you can check the FAQ when you klick on the Button next to your pic in the right corner :)
Thank you! I appreciate the warm welcome!
you're very welcome :)
Welcome man. Hope you enjoy the experience. I am also a musician. I play guitar and saxophone.
Right on! You definitely should check out the steemit open mic. Some amazing talent there!
Welcome :)!
Here a few tips for starters snce you probably won't get any advice from those who comment under here, here's what I gathered thus far.
It's tough to make money at first so if that's your main cause to be on here grind that into your head straight away, that doesn't mean you shouldn't post content, you should, but enganging with others in the comment sections to grow your following is your best bet. Which categories?
Probably the introduce yourself one and the photography section but you can choose things that you have knowledge about too and then go from there just know that there is a lot of crap on here so plowing through that just to connect with others can be tough. Cheers.
Thank you for the welcome, and helpful info! I am not really focusing on the money aspect of steemit very much to be honest. It is cool, and a good incentive to generate quality content, but as of right now it's just a bonus. I am already finding interesting new things to learn about, like using markdown in posts. :p thanks again!
Welcome, hope you have a fun time. I think you are right about Steemit too. Happy travels!
It is really good that you found interest on steemit , as of my side , i am enjoying even though i am still less than a month in the community, followed you so i can see good topics from you and you will be a known big guy too.
I am glad you are enjoying steemit too! Thank you for the warm welcome!
Welcome to Steemit, Ted!! You will be able to educate yourself about crypto currencies here on Steemit better than anywhere else. Follow the right people, learn from them and spread the knowledge you have as well.
Welcome! :D
"The vile maxim"... as in Adam Smith's?
Indeed!
