About Me

Because of my hatred to have a peaceful life, I entered the trap of Civil Engineering. Yes. You've read it right; I am a Civil Engineer.

Currently, I am enjoying my life as a zebra with uneven tan lines due to my site exposures. Nevertheless, I can still assure that I am still a beautiful zebra with a heart.

Here's the proof:

In this kind of job, we need to be tough physically, mentally, emotionally and socially especially when it comes to dealing with clients, inspectors and laborers having different personalities.

Though my job can be stressing at times, the fulfillment of seeing accomplishments with the help of my teammates is incomparable.

Besides work, I usually spend my free time reading articles about success life stories and investments.

One of my favorite authors is Bo Sanchez, a Filipino Pastor-Investor who is widely known for his big contribution in educating Filipinos about the Philippine Stock Market.

Apart from that, I often make commissioned portrait sketch requests from my friends and colleagues. Here are some of my artworks taken from my Instagram account @sheilavsyoumuch

Why am I here?

Well, you see, I am here because I need an extra money to buy some sunscreen with SPF 1000.

Kidding aside, hmmm let me give you a brief story.

During my first few months as a working professional, I saved. Saved. Saved. And saved until I realized that saving alone is not enough -- so I tried diversifying my portfolio through strengthening my financial background.

I established an emergency fund, life insurance and stock market investment (Mutual Fund). However, I still wanted for a huge growth of my investments, which led me entering into schemes offering easy money back magics.

Unfortunately, almost all of them were scams, which made me so depressed to know that a huge part of my savings is already gone.

If-something-seems-to-be.jpg

If it seems too good to be true, then it probably is.

Consequently, I started searching for legit investments aside from the Stock market. And then boom, I stumbled upon bitcoin and learned about the huge potential of cryptocurrency as the future of money.

As a result, I began setting aside a small portion of my income in order to trade bitcoin and altcoins on Bittrex. I actually thought "Buy Low, Sell High" is as easy as 1 + 1 = 11, but it isn't. Indeed, cryptocurrency is a big risk to take.

Until two handsome men (they are handsome because they have two hands. You get me?) @jassennessaj & @themanualbot introduced Steemit to me and some of my colleagues.

At first, I was hesitant to explore Steemit since I have no confidence with regards to my writing skills. But when @themanualbot mentioned that he earns a significant amount daily for creating and curating posts; then might as well give it a shot.

Disclaimer: @jassennessaj and @themanualbot are two promising young Filipino investors who are aiming to spread the vast potential of cryptocurrency, specifically the Steemit platform.

I have seen their best efforts in promoting what Steemit can offer to young professionals like me. Kudos to these two handsome senpais

My views about Steemit

After doing a quick research about Steemit, I learned that it does not limit to cryptocurrency topics alone, which makes it even more interesting!

I also learned that Steemit is very different from other cryptocurrency platforms since initial investment is unecessary.

One thing that also hooked me to join this platform is its encouragement to exercise the use of social media in a very rewarding approach, not to mention the strong camaraderie it creates among its affiliates.

What can I contribute to Steemit Community?

1. Financial Literacy

Recently, I became a licensed Financial Planner under one of the leading Insurance companies here in the Philippines.

I know I still have a lot to learn about Financial Literacy considering the financial mistakes I have committed in the past, but I guess I can share some of my thoughts based on my enriched knowledge and experience in handling my finances.

Right now, I am working on my advocacy through letting my fellow young professionals know about the importance of financial literacy.

I bet Steemit is a great venue to inspire more individuals to follow the road towards Financial Freedom.

2. Introduce Steemit to my fellow investing engineers

Perhaps, my next advocacy would be introducing Steemit to my fellow investing engineers in order to eliminate the misconception that we are only good at Mathematical computations. Oh boy! It is time for us to show-off our writing expertise!

3. Portrait Sketching

I am also thinking about sharing some advices and tips to those who want to further their skills on portrait artistry.

What am I expecting?

I am still a rookie when it comes to blogging. Still, I am hoping for a warm welcome from my fellow Steemians.

Hopefully, you guys would support my next posts in which I will be expressing my views about Cryptocurrency trading as a retirement fund, detecting scams, Trading versus Investing, and the Importance of Saving and Investing.

I will also give tips on how to make realistic portrait sketches along with some of my masterpieces.

Maybe, sharing how a huge heartbreak pushed me to learn the art of portrait sketching would be a great story to tell as well.

Reading my introductory post till the end means a lot to me. Commenting your views and opinions with regards to this post will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hi Sheila!

I'm glad you finally joined the platform. Definitely glad to have another enthusiastic, lovely, and intelligent lady Engineer. Steemit is an amazing platform which I'm proud to share. Well aside from the brand of Steemit as "incentivized social media platform", I was able to grasp that Steemit is not only about that. That Steemit is :

  • A place to learn
  • To redefine yourself
  • To express your feelings
  • To share your talent
  • To gain and interact with new friends
  • To inspire others
  • To earn some bucks thru #steemgigs

and a lot more!

Nothing is so much proud to have you more than me. We're definitely growing, and the number of professional Filipino Steemians have grown a lot! I'm excited to see what you can offer to the platform. You will be essential, especially with your skills and profession.

Another thing, do not forget to use #philippines tag on your post. There are a lot of reasons more than it, maybe the for your posts to be tracked by some curators. I'm excited ! ♡♡

Much love,

@jassennessaj

Indeed, Steemit has a lot more to offer!

Thank you sooo much @jassennessaj ! And of course @themanualbot!! This would never be possible without the help of you two.
Until now, I am still overwhelmed with your support guys.
I am also excited to walk with you in this Steemit journey.

Your suggestions are well-noted. Again, thank you. Salamat Kaayo! :D

Hello @dado13btc! Thank you for such a lovely comment! I'm excited to share a part of me here on Steemit as well.

Definitely! What goes around comes around. Thanks for that awesome tip.

Welcome aboard @smaeunabs!!! 😉😊😊😎😎

Thank you so much @themanualbot!
By the way, I am quite amazed by your poems. Hugot kaayo!

Welcome Sheila :)

Welcome..we both love Bo. Please do go on with the financial literacy and retirement fund plan. Each Pinoy need to to know these things as early. Hope you have all the time to write tbose. Enjoy!
100% power up means ure investing all ur earnings in the playform..thu steem price is very low right now.
50/50 means half sbd, half SP. You have 50% earnings to buy btc/alts or chang to fiat.
If you dont need it, better 100% power up.
Higher SP means higher upvotes.

Thanks for the enlightenment about SBD and SP @immarojas! Finally distinguished the difference between the two.

Hah..it took me almost a year lolsss jk!
Actually, the platform and us benefit when we do 100% power up when steem price is low.
It's like hoarding those steem while with low price then sell when the price is up. Obviously, everybody doing that will again lower the price.
I think that's how it is. Am not selling as yet..it almost reached $3 months ago. As more members get on-board, esp Pinoys, $3 will be chicken.

Nice intro @smaeunabs... follow and upvote

Welcome to steemit @smaeunabs. You will do great here

Thanks for inspiring her
