Hello It's Marvic Rose: Take Two

Kumusta? Hello steemians! Allow me to introduce myself again to you. The first time I did, I guess it was just some icing without the cake. Hahaha :-D

I'm Marvic Rose. Marvic to many, Rose to some and I'm just me to me. I was raised in Mabolo, Cebu City and later on transferred residence during my grade school in the beautiful place of Mactan, Lapu-Lapu City.

I'm the eldest of three siblings. I've two brothers. My family is not perfect, but yeah, we're family. I love our imperfections. You don't get to choose your family, and I'm glad that we didn't have to. I am blessed to be my parents' daughter.

I'm a teacher. I started teaching at the age of 21, formally. When I was a student myself, I had to do tutorial lessons to support my studies. Thank God, there really are angels clothed in different cloaks. It was one heck of a ride, thank God, I finished my race.

I'm teaching in my Alma Mater in high school, teaching Cookery to junior high school students. I love to see their faces, their working hands creating dishes and plating them. I love the amazement I see in their eyes whenever I'd say: "Ok. I'm tasting your dish now." They are like waiting for my own eyes sparkle with a smile. It's the best job! To be able to impart knowledge, to transfer skills, to create lifelong learning. I took great pride whenever I'd meet old students of mine and would learn that they pursued Cookery, some took HRM, some became bartenders and cooks. Their success is mine. I felt humbled.

One of the things I would tell my students whenever we're starting off the ship is: "When you cook, always think of that one person you're cooking the dish for. Think of love. Food is love on a plate. Be brave. Take risks! Create! Love!"

My greatest love, my inspiration: Mama and Papa

I would always tell them by my own experience that in our home, my Mama tends to be very forgiving. Like if you have a dish and the mother will just give all praises, beautiful reviews about your average, not-yet-Michelin star worth food. And here comes Papa, hahaha and I would say and I totally agree with: Happiness is when Papa loves my cooking. Fathers are hard to please. They have high standards and they are straightforward and honest like Chef Gordon Ramsay. Firm, but still sweet. Better luck next time, honey kind of thing. And that gives me inspiration, the drive to do something more, to be better and better next time, to be my best.

I love to bake, cook and create dishes. We don't usually dine out. One of the family's bonding is a weekend over food. I'd prepare them baked spaghetti, my homemade pizza which from time to time I want different toppings every weekend, squash flan, empanada, cupcakes, etc.

I'm also a sunset person. I don't know. But there's just something about it I can't explain. They say that sunsets are loved by sad people. Maybe. It is sad, but it makes me happy. It holds a beautiful promise about tomorrow, what's coming, what the future holds. Sunsets are beautiful goodbyes.

I love writing. I love poetry. Whenever I'm happy or sad, I'd thrust my pen and just randomly write about how I'm feeling. It's therapeutic. I've been compiling all my poems in journals. To be a writer and a chef, they're my two greatest dreams in life.

I love dogs. They are indeed, man's best buddy. They see you through your soul. I'm lucky to be family with them. I think if I'm rich, I would want to adopt all abandoned dogs in the streets. I want to build a home for them, no cages, just them to run, play free, eat, and nap a lot.

I'm one hopeless romantic. And I always admit that. But yeah, I'm living the best days of my life. Love is not found in the wrong people, in the wrong place, in the wrong time. Some of us just settle, and I don't want to do the same. I want to be extremely happy when I fall in love. And while he is not here yet, I'm loving myself completely, being the best version of me. And when the day comes, he will not complete my life, he will be an addition to my being.
