Why is there a huge discrepancy between the top 20 on coingecko.com and the top 20 on coincap.io or coinmarketcap.com ?
For example NEO is number 15 on both of those other sites but on coingecko.com NEO is number 8.
Never mind, I think I get it now. The default sort is based on a bunch of factors not just market cap.
This is a little confusing though. It's not obvious how much weight is given to each factor.
Hi @revulv , sorry for the initial confusion! Yes reason why the ranking appears differently is that our default sorting is based on the various different components ie. market cap, volume, developer, community, etc.
Ordering by market cap as seen here https://www.coingecko.com/en?order=desc&sort_by=market_cap will be very close to the other websites
We are still working on changes on how we can make this less clear and confusing to most users, which we hope would be an improvement.
Working on it? Just change the default sort order. Problem solved.
