Introductory post
Hi, my name is Shaun and this is my introductory post on the first day of 2018.
i'm a qualified electrical and mechanical engineer originally from England and now living on South Australia.
i'm an avid carp fishing freak with over 40 years fishing experience and occasionally teach people how to fish correctly.
i also enjoy bow hunting - with my Martin Alien Rytera - strictly to put food on the table only - no waste.
And i'm constantly seeking better ways to improve my self sufficiency and homesteading quality of life.
i have an extensive knowledge of law - used for self protection from fraudulent government agencies and people that don't know the difference between legal and lawful..

Hi, welcome to Team Australia!
Thanks matey - great to be part of the team :)
A very warm welcome to Steemit Shaun! :)
Thankyou :)
My buck's night was a camping/fishing weekend trip on the Murray.
Didn't catch anything.
We were using corn, because we heard that's good, but I think the fish were either not biting, or just not there.
We're heading up to Lake Bonney soon, and pulling in a big carp like that would be cool for the kids.
Any tips?
Hi Matt - the fish are always there - corns mainly a visual bait for the carp at your planned destination and works ok for the small fish up to 10lb or so in shallow water.
Don't use hooks that are too large - size 6 is the largest you want to use.
Don't use line that is too heavy - 6lb - 10lb max
Get some breadcrumbs from the local supermarket and mix a tin of corn with it to make a stiff paste - mould around the lead you use. fist size.
cast to the same spot repeatedly whilst fishing and the fish will come to you.
If you want to catch 20lb+ fish you will need a different set-up and different bait..
i fish vegimite boilies on a combi link rig for fish over 20lb all uk fishing gear and different set ups again for fish over 30lb and 40lb. Simple sandwich bread can be a great bait too.
Hope this helps - let me know how you go :)
Thanks Shaun. I'll do that, and let you know how I go :)
