First post: Testing the Waters

Hello fellow Steemians!

First, I don't plan on publishing my name anytime soon. Coming from a security background that's a hard step for me. But more on that a little further on.

I found out about Steemit from Instagram. I've been curious about cryptocurrencies but never really dug into them. I figured a platform like Steemit would be a good place to start, and on top of that, I've been getting tired of the politics of Facebook and their affiliates. I want to a platform where everyone can post about what they believe and see. And no algorithms that have a political weight influences who can see that information. I want a platform where people who disagree can converse about what they disagree about and not get angry and start name calling like I see on the "big name" platforms.

And I am very happy to say that the bit of time I have spent exploring Steemit before this post is quite promising with my above expectations in mind. I have seen a wonderful community of many people from many backgrounds that hold many different ideas in their head. A proverbial melting pot of thought. Post suggestions are powered by the community and how well they enjoy a post. And I can't wait to see where this goes!

Now a little about myself:

I'm involved in the Church and my walk with Christ is #1 in my life. I try and help out at church events or programs whenever I can, normally this is a weekly commitment for me to one extent or another.

I graduated High School and College at the same time. Getting my Diploma, an Associates and Technical certifications along with hands-on experiences that have prepared me to begin studying for the CCNA Routing and Switching certification.

On the subject of school and my enjoyed learning and work styles, I hate sitting still for long periods of time and working on one task. Especially if it's listening to one person drone on about one thing. I'm not in the greatest shape, but I do enjoy being active and strive to improve my fitness. My favorite way to learn (and work when possible) is to be up and about, doing one thing one minute, then jumping to another task, and coming back around to the first task eventually.

I work in the Information Technology field. Right now I work at an awesome Computer Refurbishing and Repair shop, I'm currently the site-lead (manager) for our new location. I haven't chosen a specific career but after this summer my goal is to work for a company in computer networking and or security.

I enjoy tinkering with little things, I'm trying to make more time to actually work on some DIY projects.

Another pastime of mine is politics and debate. I enjoy debating with people and learning their stance on different issues while being able to evaluate and either reinforce or change my own.
