Day #3, post #3. Introduce yourself: Real Me, Chapter #2: Moving in

in #introduceyourself8 years ago (edited)

Hi Steemians,

I told you the day before yesterday that I am a traveller. It is true that I adore moving. And it is true that I adore travelling. But these two notions are different for me and here is why.

Moving

It is not my profession or what. It is not even my hobby. I just move in. Literally. Again and Again.
Each 6-7 months the "wind of change" knocks my door and all I can do is to respond to it, pack all my stuff and go. New places, new ideas, all new.

It all began in 2010, when I started my French Chapter of Life.

I left my country of origin and moved to France. Bienvenue! (Welcome!). Those days were all like a huge trip. I did not speak French, the culture was so different and strange, it really took some time to adopt. But it was all fun - great adventure that I was writing down each day.

Those among you who had such an experience in their lives - thumbs up, guys! it is not easy but it is a great experience to live.

I arrived in Rennes, great city of students, everybody spoke English, so I was not depressed without French language. That was the time my "moving-in-addiction" sneaked up on me.
During 1 year and moved in 4 times.
I studied hard, partied hard and was happy with it.
As you can imagine spending time with English speaking friends did not help me to improve my French, however, I did understand what people were saying around. I just was not able to speak back.

In July 2011 I decided to work hard on my French, so I found an internship in the french company and went to live to the North.
I did not quite understand why my future boss asked me 7 times if I am ok with moving there. Haha! It all became clear for me when I arrived. I was going to the North, but arrived «chez les ch’tis».
To understand the last sentence - just watch this:

To tell you that I did not understand a word is to tell nothing. They speak very, very particularly. With this weird accent. And rains, OMG, when you cross the border of the region - it starts to rain. Immediately. As if there is an invisible border that you are crossing. I checked many times, believe me=)
People there are really nice and welcoming. For the first sight they are grumpy and cold and after 5 minutes they are smiling and friendly. What can I say - North. By the way, I really advice you this film, great comedy in the best french filming traditions.=)

During 2 years of my living there my «wind of change» did not abandon me so I moved in 3 times.
As for my French improving, well, I accomplished the mission - I started to speak. Fluently. With only one small remark - I spoke like Ch'tis. WITH THIS ACCENT!
Till the moment you did not leave the borders of the region it was ok, because everybody spoke the same.
The moment you went "outside" the region- it was a comedy, really. With this great accent other French people did not understand me. At all.

In 2013 time came up to face some changes in my life - I quit the job and came back to Rennes. It was nice to come back, not as a student. I had to get rid of ch'tis accent though.

Brittany is a great place to live, guys, it is a wonderful region, nice traditions, cuisine is gorgeous and products are of high quality. You eat great and drink great in Brittany. Plus there are plenty of places to visit and discover. Although weather can be sometimes depressing as it can rain heavily non stop for a month, but with time you got used to it. I even did not pay attention to rain after my North experiences=)
So I spent a wonderful year in Rennes and again, moved in 3 times.

Parisian chapter started in the end of 2014 with a new job contract. Paris... Have you ever been to Paris?
If you plan to visit it, just drop me a message, I’ll share nice places to visit and to eat=)

Paris can easily stand up for a book, so I will not go in details now, I just say that I moved in 4 times during 3 years of living there.

And now I am in Aquitaine, as I told you in my previous post.

Will see if I stay here and for how long. Locals say that it is a must do to spend at least one year in this region - to discover all the advantages of weather and food. It is an agricultural region, and all the fruits and vegetables are cultivated here, must be really cool. Will see. And share.

Just to summ up:
It is almost 8 years that I am living in France.
I moved in 14 times within France, 2 times outside the country.
In total - 16 times.

And it is not the end I suppose=)

Next chapter will speak about travelling, feel free to join=)

Thanks for reading,
See u!

Hello, thank you for your comment!
I used it because my introduction consists of 4 parts, but if you say that it is better not to do that way, well, I will not=)
Thanks for letting me know=)

Thank you! Might not be a good idea to use it that many times. :)

Natter, same thing happened to me. Used it thrice I think, but I wanted to re-write my introduction... secondly, used it for a meme as well... but had no intention of spamming. These things happen at the start, so lets learn from it and move on. Enjoy your time here and best of luck.

So welcome again to this great community.
I hope you will have a huge success.
Travelling it's always great

Thank you=) Hope it too)
