My First Month At Steemit
Hi! My friends call me Max. It's hard for me to believe that I have completed 1 full month at Steemit. It feels as though it was just yesterday when I signed up, waited for a day and then logged into this new world.
But first a little about me since I am not a well-known figure on Steemit and my earlier introduction was just a post to say that I have left Facebook and joined Steemit. I have been online for about a decade now. I started out from my full-time job's office using time during breaks and between meetings when I used to explore the content world on the web. I got to know that there are various kinds of businesses flourishing on the web.
First I started my own sites, mostly small websites on different topics and earned through ads. Soon it became my favorite part-time vocation. After a while there were various changes on the web including Google's policy changes with respect to smaller sites and their own ads. I moved on the ecommerce by creating websites to sell products and used ads to promote my products. I decided to take my part-time work more seriously and made it my full-time vocation. My time became completely flexible and that I could make my own work schedule.
I've been online since then and stumbled upon Steemit about a month ago when I was reading about cryptocurrency online. I had heard about Steemit before but I somehow didn't quite get it at the time and thought that it was another revshare site. It was only when I read a few posts on Steemit itself that I actually saw that it was a completely new world.
So here I am after completing my first month ready to dive deeper into Steemit. But first I would like to thank all my followers who read my posts and upvote me. All those who commented on my blog posts and replied to my comments anywhere on the platform - thank you to you too.
My Performance
I have close 142 followers and have made 296 posts with a reputation of 48. That may not be the among the best numbers at about 9 posts per day but I have been consistent. My earnings have not been much to write about but not nil either. Steem Power is what you would expect from a beginner who has not invested anything yet.
Except a few odd days I have been posting every single day. I could have made short posts of a few lines each that is more in vogue on Steemit but I chose to publish lengthier ones and hence the lesser number of posts. Same with comments since mine are usually more than a few words long. Some of my recent posts have been long detailed posts and I will continue to keep it that way since I find good appreciation for longer posts with a lot of details in it.
Here are some of my previous posts that were long, detailed articles:
=> Curie Vs. Buildawhale: Curation With A Difference?
=> The Steemit Success Tips I Learnt From Jerry Banfield
I started from scratch here and did not bring my own followers from outside - and it has been a constant struggle for views with every post that I make. Most of my posts disappeared from the feed in a few minutes. But they did start earning eventually thanks to a little help from the upvoting bots. Starting as a minnow, I was happy to look at my post without a big zero in pending payouts next to it.
What Could Have I Done Better?
Create more posts and maybe comment even more. The number of comments I have made may look like they're less as compared to some of the stalwarts some of whom have thousands of comments under their belt in one month - because I have a habit of writing 100 words or more quite often for a single meaningful comment.
As I mentioned above, my blog posts are also a bit lengthy compared to a vast majority of posts I've seen here that have a few lines maybe 2 or 3 paragraphs or nothing at all except a gif or an image. I did try it myself, but gave up after posting only one image once and a few two one-line comments because it just didn't seem right and even worse, made me feel like a spammer.
Goals
I have set up some goals for the next 30 days and beyond.
More Posts
I intend to make at least 1-2 blog posts every day. You can't get noticed if you don't post on Steemit every day - period. Same with comments - need to comment a lot on people's content. I am aiming at a total of 500 posts for my second month.
There are two advantages of commenting - you get paid for them besides being noticed. I used a tip that I had read, that advised to only make comments in the beginning because with a few followers making blog posts is no use because of lack of visibility - a common newbie mistake.
More Followers
You need at least 500 followers for your posts to be seen and voted on to trend, as far as I have observed. I have 141 followers and I intend to make it 400 in the next thirty days.
Initiatives
I have planned some initiatives and have also volunteered for some. I must give back to Steemit instead of expecting big returns from the first day here like many do. Facebook never gave me a penny, but here I already have posts that have earned me some SBD.
Higher Rep
A rep of 60 would be nice and I am giving it time till the end of September, which is more than a month away. I am aware that the algorithm makes it tougher as the rep score rises. But if I tie it in with the rest of my goals and increase my efforts I should get to my goal of 60.
Conclusion
I have been excited to be part of the community from the first day here. It has been positive for me and I look ahead with confidence and even more excitement. Steemit is quite different from other social platforms and I am happy to be here.
Thanks for reading. But before you go please wish me luck!

Really Jerry Banfiled can teach some tips? I have a month in here too and sorry but if I came to steemit with hundred and hundred of foreign followers as youtube it doesnt makes me a genious of this platform. Its just being lucmy and use what i ve done before. Its not fair at all.. anyway. Happy month in steemit!
Thanks for the good wishes! True, arriving like a Pied Piper from outside doesn't make a Steemit guru but followers matter very much here - even if they are blind followers. They just need to press the upvote button for you. :-)
I have not seen a better introductory post then yours . Very crisp and clear on your steemit goals. Wish u all the best and thanks for the tips. Its just been a month for me as well on steemit. Have followed u. Regards Nainaz.
Thanks for the appreciation, Nainaz!
It did take me about a month to be clear about my own goals - I was confused at first with so much of chatter which tells you to do different things. I am clear now to focus not on the money earned, but the goals that I have mentioned. I want to be a contributing member of the community, first and foremost.
Wish you all the best!
Thank you so much!

Spamming posts with your scammy copy-pasted comment is not acceptable on Steemit. You will be reported and flagged.
In promotion of a service a promoter does not change their ad everytime they are going to show it. I am advertising not spamming don't you get it?
Keep your spam out of my posts. You've spammed my recent post too. You've been warned and will be flagged out of this platform.
Hello @maxabit this is the second post I see of you and I really liked it a lot like the first one, I am new and I hope to grow and raise goals as important as yours, good luck. :)
Thanks
Cool! You have been signed up for some time now so thanks for finally sharing with us. There is an upvote for you and I'm waiting for many more posts in the future!
As a newcomer to steemit, it's not easy getting those first upvotes so maybe you want to try Steemfollower where you can earn up to 5x more steem than just upvoting by yourself! It's a simple and safe vote exchange that is free to use. I made this post to explain the system in more depth and it has become my most upvoted post yet.
