A Soft-Opening Introduction em that got a little out of hand

in #introduceyourself7 years ago (edited)

 My bandit as a puppy.

I always do a "soft open" first. In retail, it's when a store opens without great fanfare, without the "Grand Opening" and just softly sneaks in. Time is spent getting established and making sure systems work, etc. THEN comes the BIG "Grand Opening."

Well, today is my first full day of access to Steemit after about a 9 day wait! I can tell you I nearly wore out my phone screen updating my email inbox during that wait! Fortunately I found people on Steemit writing about account approval delays AND people pointing to Steemit.chat #help

If you know of someone experiencing this "lost in the black hole" entry into Steemit, they don't have to be a Steemit member to go to Steemit.chat and get help. Just be sure they go to the #help channel and warn them not to expect "real time" interaction. There's always a bit of a delay. I got an email notification each time I received a response.

Anyway, So. First full day. And I can't spend the day here, writing and posting and chatting it up. I just want to do a quick intro. I'm behind in prepping for Shavuot. And no. I'm not Jewish. You'll get use it. Eventually.

In short:

  • Married to @mitchmiester
  • Texas Native
  • Watch this list! See if you can spot my ADD!
  • Software testing (a few years back when dinosaurs roamed)
  • Software customer service support (as above)
  • Blogger (more or less a year)
  • Second Life (Adelebsen Isle) (more or less 3 years)
  • InWorldz (I just lurk about from time to time)
  • Digital photography (I don't know where the charger is to my Olympus DSLR and my little point and shoot was MIA for 6 months until last week ... we're not going to discuss it.)
  • Find phone photography convenient but dissatisfying.
  • Digital art
  • Some 3d work ... that's addictive!
  • Enjoy doing art critique and will take some art advice into consideration :D
  • ~~take a breath~~
  • Lived in a tent ... possibly a total of 2 years in a 8 year span ... loved it! Yes. by choice. Do you know RV's are claustrophobic and tents aren't? --at least for me.
  • Lived in an RV for meh a year or so. No, it didn't travel around.
  • From Texas we moved to Oregon for a year. Never again in Portland. Never! But, never "not Oregon again."
  • Lived in New York state for 6 yrs (partially overlapping the years above). We moved 8 times, further and further upstate from NYC, in the Appalachian Mountains. Every time a story and a half! Loved NY. Miss NY. Even miss NYC.
  • Currently living in Kentucky. Renting the farm house on a 100 acre hay farm. (thankfully not responsible for all of it!) In the Appalachian Mountains.
  • ~~ and how can I not mention ... ~~
  • I'm a grandmother x7
  • Always amused by these young kids that talk tech and then say ... "How do YOU know this stuff?" I ask them, "Which generation do you think started all this stuff?" (No, it wasn't my generation so that's confusing to me ... why was my generation so slow to adopt earlier?)
  • My daughter is going to be on Steemit any moment now.
  • ~~ isn't this suppose to be a quick, "soft open" intro? ~~
  • Torah observant to the best of my abilities.
  • Not Jewish ;-)
  • Pretty sure we're headed for an economic crash.
  • Waiting to see how interesting September 23, 2017 will be.
  • ~~ space ~~
  • Oh! First time guardian of cats. Five Four of them. Number five is another day's story.
  • And we have four dogs.
  • All animals live outside. Soooo many reasons!
  • Wanna have some chickens
  • Wanna have a few goats
  • We do have resident groundhogs and opossums and rabbits and squirrels which my critters hunt ... without authorization ... what can I say? The deer and the wild turkeys are too fast.
  • Wanna lose my brown thumb
  • ~~ this !! ~~
  • Can't breathe in a city! Like for real. Everybody lives, works, and moves in closed up boxes, breathing dead air. Can't handle it.
  • ~~ oh wait there's more ~~
  • Lover of essential oils
  • Super pleased with my current chiropractor ... not to be confused with "all chiropractors"
  • Much more willing to try a natural remedy than when I was young
  • Would pretty much rather die of a perfectly curable disease than get tangled up in today's modern medical system.
  • Starting to get into fermenting (who isn't?)
  • I don't cook. Seriously, it's dangerous for me to cook. The toaster oven is my best friend. I will give input into the process though.

Ok really that's enough. Ya think I can find something to talk about? Let's see.

And who do you think I'll follow? I dunno. Are you interesting without being crass? If so, let me know.

Enjoy have fun!

Hi @marillaanne welcome, so what's this favourite art you hide?

:) Time will tell. Thanks for asking tho!

Welcome. Are you a Anne of Green Gables fan? Love the last photo.

Congratulations !! ... Yes! I most definitely am. Anne's character grew quite well but I enjoy remembering all the changes that Marilla went through and how she beautifully "grew up" also. I use to have a link to an essay someone wrote on this very topic. If I find it, I'll post it.

Yes Marilla was changed by Anne coming into her life. Love the books and the tv series from the 1980s. Would love to read the essay if you can find it

unfortunately I could not find the original article; however, fortunately, I did come across another article that has some great points about Marilla. http://modernmrsdarcy.com/mellow-like-marilla-cuthbert/

I was astonished to discover it was very difficult to find essays reflecting original thought about Marilla. Most was just writing for school assignments. It also crossed my mind that there are few processes in life that mature us like raising a child will mature us.

Thanks for the interesting read. I like the analysis. I noticed it is part of a series of articles. Will look further

Oh my goodness! I completely missed that you liked the last photo. It's so seldom that anyone pegs my username so quickly. ... the last photo is a story all of it's own. I will make a post about it one day soon. BUT I am glad you like it as it was a labor of love to produce it. Thanks!

Look forward to reading all about it. Kindred spirits would recognize your username;)

:) Yes. Definitely it is the kindred spirits who figure me out

Thanks bunches Silvia. I'm enjoying your style :)

Looks like I'll have to read 'Anne of Green Gables' again Marilla. I know I had the book as a kid and loved it ~ Have a feeling it may bring back a flood of memories. It's wonderful to meet you now at Steemit. 🌹

:D I've also thought I would enjoy rereading it. It's been a long while. I followed you right away! Just as soon as you ran a little further with #useeisee I thought you to be good company! Thank you for your welcome :)

Absolute pleasure Marilla. I'm about to write my next post for the Color Challenge for Thursday Green. So I might try to massage it into a #useeisee post. I can think of two Steemit friends right now who may also be interested in joining you with #useeisee ~ Sure there'll be more too. 💗🌹💗
