Introducing myself
Hello everyone. In fact I joined a year ago but didn't know to do an introductory post. I also didn't know how to blog or use any of the social media platforms. I made two steeemit posts that got nearly no views and left the system.
But.. I returned a week ago and have picked up some followers in the last week (two weeks ago I had just 5!) as I've been posting content some of you seem to like very much from the travel blog I help to write: discerning food and travel. We launched it earlier this year. I hope you enjoy it . Popular posts this week I've put up on steemit since rejoining include a Grand Canyon week long white water rafting trip and another was cocktails and soufflé at the Ritz hotel in London.
I also put up one or two posts on strategic investing in cryptos to pick a good long term portfolio but no-one really seems to know I'm here despite a couple of encouraging comments. Hence writing this introductory note and hoping you won't mind it being a year after I officially joined as I didn't know to an introductory post back then.
A bit more about me... I enjoy writing, the arts, classical and jazz music and I write a lot on travel and food. I also provide strategic consulting on technology areas and have started posting things like criteria on how to choose a crypto portfolio long term.
I love steemit this time round and am looking forward to networking with you all. It's a great forum with some superb quality content. And I think steemit is a good long term investment too though as you'll see from a couple of my posts encouraging a debate on how to value steemit's long term market cap I haven't yet got a mental model for its long term value. Would you join me on that post on a discussion about how we could get there? Thank you!

Welcome back to Steemit! I have not been on this platform long but I recall the first couple of weeks and the bewilderment of how to get followers, and how to do almost everything. I love the fact of the great people I get to meet from all over the world. I am still learning, and just when I start getting a feel for something they make changes, so more learning. Now I am trying to figure out how I can fairly look at all my followers blogs and upvote some of their posts. I look forward to seeing your future posts.
thanks @r2cornell yes it is bewildering and frustrating as some people seem to get loads of up votes on their posts within several days of joining and mine have barely been seen by anyone but liked but the view that have seen them. Any advice gratefully received. Is the secret more steempower and how much do you need?
I have spoke with others about why they get so little upvote. You have a fair amount of. Steempower, so that will help in your upvoting. The new rules eat up a lot of steem power quickly. I used to upvote everyone i could at 100%, but now i have spread it out. I will upvote a higher percentage for newbies if i see they have little steem power.
My first two months i made very little and gained very little followers. The past 2 months things have changed and i get paid better, although is no where near what some earn. I have changed my tags and look closely at what tags others use.
I did make the decision to try and just enjoy the process and let everything fall in place overtime.
Some new people bring a following with them such as from the youtube channel. They grow quite quickly.
