I don't tend to like popular posts but I liked this one. I'm a 'traditional' businessperson being drawn to UX for many of the reasons you mention ( but business first of course ). Welcome aboard!
I like UX for that exact reason haha! it always gives me good arguments to convince the business person on the other side of the table!
