An Artist's Introduction...

in #introduceyourself7 years ago (edited)

I'm a visual artist living in Austria. After being introduced to Steemit by my good friend @leoplaw I'm now around here since a couple of months. I'm still not convinced if this is the right platform for me to share and promote my artwork, however, the concept of rewarding content creators with cryptocurrency kept me curious. I was running my facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/pgric/) quite successfully for years, but as we all know fb is limiting its publisher's reach if they don't pay for it. I'm also trying minds.com and Instagram with good results, but even though I was not able to find many followers here on Steemit, my postings generated in three months Steem worth of several hundreds of USD, and the recent boom in the cryptocurrency market makes this platform very interesting.

A few words about my artwork:

The canvas (or board) is for me a vehicle, a kind of a space craft which brings me to unknown places in unknown realities. If the origin of my journey is in the world of the explainable and the describable, then I attempt to leave its orbit. However, the gravity of words is pulling me back, that’s why I am not taking any questions along on my trip, and consequently I do not expect any answers either. I just want to marvel about the things I see out there. I want to enter and experience new realities, new spaces, forms and dimensions. It’s not about words, thoughts and messages, but rather about visions beyond language.

Besides this there is not much I could explain about the content and meaning of any of my paintings. I'm not using symbols to encode any messages, I don't care much about the interpretation and I don't feel obliged to any traditional or mythological links. I see my paintings as insights into alternative realities or alternative states of consciousness, providing no answers, offering no solutions, but rather reflecting my own perplexity about the existence per se.
