RE: Transparency Bot is going online to help fight the rampant rise in bidbots and their long term devastating effect on our platform.

Hello @transparencybot !

So I replied with respect on your comment on my post and of course upvoted both the comment and blog post.
I read your post as also all comments that you received .
At a first read I wanted to reply to all comments that you received but I do not want to spam of considered a harmful individual.
So I will try to reply to you and your audience in one comment as I am sure that we can have a respectful discussion.
Your comment that you posted in my blog I found it to be a good one as you put information and explain your points that are valid.
I do not share the same vision or more accurate I agree with you to a point
I am on Steemit since 2016 and at first I was very upset on my live and shortcomings ...so I found Steemit to be an escape... a way for me to be free.
So I wrote and comment and wrote again.
Got zero upvotes or close to zero (1,2,3 upvotes) and I was putting photos of me in Denmark, on the sea, Bay of Biscay, France, Rotterdam with statues and monuments, beautiful and unique places...and...still...nothing..
Some user even wrote in a comment that those photos where taken from a magazine...that I was not actually there ...Now imagine that ...I was and am working on the sea so that was and is my life that I put in my post ...it is real.
So I posted as evidence my face on each photo of me....and ...still nothing...

I was wondering....what am I doing wrong?

My photos where better that some users ...that received 500$ on them ...and me....0 $ or max 0.5 $
There was no bot at those times (bid ones)

Now I know what happened!

I was a new user on steemit at that time and my reputation even if it grown from 25 to 30 and then 40 I did not cover ...more accurate not even appearing on the page ( I was on the way way way down at the page)

Steemit had and still has a Promote button and so I tested it long time ago....

(This line is also a reply to a comment that you received that Steemit did not have promotion)

I put an amount of 4$ and press the promote button after 4 days that It took to write my post (the year was 2016)
...trending- of course not...
Promote - category then....way way way way way down was my post.
The result...1 upvote ...the reward LESS than 1 $
I had more than 20 photos with me inside and explain the dates and locations that I was in my posts ...all this was a lot of work from my part...and then again...not even 1 dollar.
And I look on trending (once again the year was 2016) and a person put a tree a simple tree in his post and earned 120$ ...
I was going crazy and asking over and over myself:

What am I doing wrong here?

Than came the bot Apocalypse...

A big whale posted a script on how to make a simple upvote bot .
It was a good little bot that could have a comment inside and even could be programed to upvote a number of times per day and to pick users with a specific reputation like from 66 to 74 or more.

I did not know what to make of this ...
Was it good, was it bad?
Now ( time - end of 2016) users were starting to get insane amounts of upvotes ....like 500, 1k, 2k upvotes.
Around that time started :

The Whale Flag Wars

And many people started to abuse the flag button using it like a personal light switch. ( from all sides)
It was a terrible time and it made me uncertain on what to write...I was genuily scared to write an article with a lot of work and insight just because I see so many flagged articles.
So I censored myself and made post in witch I was smiling and happy...but deep inside I was just about to quit all together.

But then balance was restored

Many bots that used the flag button ( that where created to flag specific users over and over again) where banned from the site .
@steemcleaners done their job as well as @cheetah and order was restored.
Upvoting bots was still permited and so other bot projects grown from that spec of dust.

Projects that helped new users only with upvotes on good content,
and other projects that started as a random vote or bots that were paid.

All of this was before the bid bots

Fast-forward a little bit and we jump in the steemit bot tracker

Where users can pay and have their post seen .

Now I read at my timezone -GMT+2 since 21:10 to 22:16 all comments that your post received.

And I say with at-most respect for your intention as I find it genuine :

A stop button to bots will NOT be a solution !
If you your audience and other good writers here on Steemit want to change things for the better please take into account a small ideea that I suggest:

If there is a problem in this platform that affects all the users regarding bots used for bids just make a max daily weekly or bi-weekly bid that ALL Steemit users can use.

For example a maximum bid can be 10$ or less for 1 day or 2 days (or even more) witch in that time the specific user cant use another bot .
This can be a solution and can control the amount of voting power that is spread .
I don't say that my idea is the best but please take it into account and try to think it rationally.
If you have other suggestions or even great ideas please reply as I will do my best to have a rational discussion with you and your audience.
With at-most respect,
@cynetyc!

I think the steemit community is the one that is really unfair sometimes. They never read other people's posts, sometimes they just read and pass. It takes so little to upvote and leave a comment, but people don't. There is a lot going on that we do not know about, maybe if we would care about other people's initiatives we would make steemit a good rewarding platform. I have never received $2 on my posts ever since February 2017

Thank you very much for this thoughtful reply and valid questions.

First, it is not what you are doing wrong, it is what we all (most) have and continue to do that is destroying our platform. This topic is complex and it needs to be addressed or in my opinion we will lose Steemit altogether.

Yet, with all this complexity and very arguable viewpoints, this bot does nothing more than post statistics and make an appeal to all to become fully educated on this subject. It is up to you and each author and of course the community on a whole to decide if this is an asset or not.

I am fan of transparency and truth, I can see no reason why we should be afraid of either.

Blessings!
