Evolution is Overrated

Did you know humans--homo erectus and his successors--have been around for over a million years?

Think of someone from way way back in the day...a historical figure. I don't know why, but Moses was my first thought. Weird.

Anyway, he died in 1592 BCE, which was more than 990,000 years after the first humans were around. That's a very long time! Relatively speaking, of course. There are rocks in my backyard older than that, but even they are young compared to the age of the earth itself.

However, humans aren't rocks, are they? No, not even close! In a million years we apes have managed to master the elements and conquer the earth. We've claimed dominion over this entire place!

But for whom, and at what price?

The term homo sapien translates to "wise man," but after a million years of cohabitation we still don't know how to share; what's so wise about that?

I'm curious.
