New to steemit and feeling a little awkward about the in-fightingsteemCreated with Sketch.

Hey there

I joined Steemit some time ago as I was looking for a place to blog about my adventures in cryptocurrency investing and trading. Initially, I was filled with fervour about writing posts on a platform that appeared to be community driven and all about supporting people making content with value. Unfortunately that feeling was only brief as I became more familiar with the regular posters and the users that appear regularly in the trend feeds.

I'd written two posts, and read a hundred more, upvoting those I felt gave me insights, and hoping I might too find a place in the general community here. Instead I seemed to go down the rabbit hole and find that users are guarded with their upvoting, you get many views and some comments that your post was good (but no upvotes). The glow started to wane a little.

Reading the feeds became frustrating... Always the same users splashing their upvotes in the same pool. The feeds become pointless as the top trending posts are usually rubbish, rubbish with hundreds of dollars of upvoting, driven by a seeming plethora of users circle jerking each other. Whales delegating SP to obvious business partners and using the platform to generate cash for themselves by scamming other users into believing there is value in the posts. Hell there must be value, right? Look at the upvote count and massive funds attributed to the post... It is mostly false.

The passion for steemit dims further... I've now spent weeks reading of the in-fighting and flagging wars that rage on. Finding the gems is time consuming and seemingly pointless, you can find better content elsewhere with much greater ease.

I'm probably opening myself up to some of this flagging and flaming now. I've read tonnes of posts of this ilk by frustrated publishers, and I think many join Steemit with the same passion I had only to walk away disappointed. The general idea of Steemit is good but the gaming of the system comes at a cost.

I'm not going to give up just yet and I'm looking into how this community might be fixed. The governance behind the platform I'm not yet familiar with.

Peace all. This is just my 0.2c :) Take care of you.

Steemit is still evolving there are some things that needed to be fixed here and there but it will be fixed. It is still in beta I am sure they are finding ways how fixed it. There is so much potential in the platform have you tried the different condensers? steemit is just the first one and there are money more interfaces that use the steem blockchain. I am particularly excited about steemgigs if you have time you should check it out it might be more to your liking. Anyway if you need help or assitance or questions about the platform just drop me a comment in any of my post or mention my name in yours. See you around and happy steeming!

Thanks for taking the time to post and comment. I had not heard of steemgigs so will check it out. I know there are many great users here and I will admit I have no idea what a condenser is... I'm an internet veteran but a steemit n00b!

Hey coolisland...I just joined recently and feel similar, but my gut feeling is it's all growing pains for the platform. My plan is to keep poking around and see what happens. Good luck with your adventure here!

Thanks @sleepydoc. Welcome to the platform! I too am hopeful and felt much better having voiced some of my frustrations :)

Welcome to steemit, looking forward to seeing you around @chessmasterhex.

Terima kasih :) (I hope I got that right!)

steemit is mixed, what you just said is the other side of steemit and the side of yourself,

There are more here!

Always remember, Successful people doesn't complaint but finds a better way to work it out

I've just had a look at your account history laden with buildawhale upmewhale minnowboost transfers. Sorry Albert your "better way" does not sit very well with me.

Peace. Good luck on the other side I won't be joining you there just yet.

I did not mean you to do the bidbot buying,
i have my reason why i did that,

I also started in steemit at no single cents, and never do the upvote bids,

I know how to do it but I just lay low and do other things instead.
i also don't claim to be successful but I know how, and still I manage to get 500 sp without the help of bidbots, only now I do something more and I never cashout my earning

there are more way to success in steemit.
and complaining is not one of them

Thanks Albert. Sorry my response was a little judgmental perhaps and you may have your reasons.

I think I was trying to make more of an observation of the flaw in the Steem system than complain. I'm keen to be involved in the rectification of the problem not just make noise about it and walk away.

Steemit has a lot of potential! At the moment I'm learning about the witnesses and rule adjustment processes that exist in the hope I can help make this platform better than it is.

to help the system better is keep steeming and stay with it.

  • And if your not totally convince with how the system works, do not invest in money but with you time only and explore better.

I am recommending you @surpassinggoogle account to be followed, he is the most human whale here in steemit.

others whale here care only there self

Oh yea, I have upvoted you and followed you. Many blessings from @introbot & @bycoleman

Oh! The irony of this bot comment! LOL

Yes, in a way, but a warm welcome is still something you (albeit belated) and everyone deserves.

The best thing we can do is find ways to fix the trending list from being a promoted list of nonsense. Keep thinking with the integrity you have and you may find some solutions.

Blessings!
