Hi I am new here & i have a quick question

Hello Steemers,

My name is Bunny and i am very new to steemit, Joined a couple of weeks ago trying to figure out how this stuff works.

But recently i made a mistake, which i am not able to understand, So here i am posting here, hope to get good suggestions from your side.

I recently made a post which was flagged by a respected member of steem community.

My post for about a website providing free gh/s for signup with a referral link, and my post included my account screenshot with my referral link as well. where i also clearly mentioned that i am not sure if that site is a scam or legit, i simply offer people if they want free GHs.
(SORRY FOR NOT POSTING THE LINK I DON'T WANT TO BE FLAGGED AGAIN)

His exact comment: "While it may not be a scam in your opinion, it could be considered spam if this is the only type of content you post. Spam is not appreciated by the community and could be flagged or may result in action from the cheetah bot.."

Now i am not saying if he did something wrong, all i am saying if you guys can suggest me what was the issue, so i can be careful in near future.

I checked the following points:

  1. If it's because mentioning website with referral link (There are lots of people mentioning websites with referral links here)
  2. If it's copy/pasted, i didn't know that before but i shared my experience and i am sure that it was not copy / pasted, i typed that 100% by my self.
  3. My account screenshot is just an image.

Lastly the major question i have been thinking about ever since i came to know about steemit.

IF STEEM FALLS UNDER THE CATEGORY OF SOCIAL NETWORK OR ARTICLE SUBMISSION SITE ?

Any suggestions are appreciated...

I'm pretty new here also, but I think common sense dictates that when you enter a new community, trying to sell something straight away is bad manners. Imagine if you walked into a party with a bunch of people you had never met before and immediately started to pitch people to invest in your company or buy a product? Unless it was an event that was specifically designed to be a sales/networking meeting, most people would stop talking to you.

The vision of Steemit is not to try and be another platform that is trying to buy and sell you at every turn. It is a place that aspires to reward good content and to build a worthwhile community.

And i think your use of common sense is too harsh. Was there any orientation on what to do and when to do it here?

Why can't you see that nobody wants to "buy" your stuff? Do you want orientation? Easy follow this rules:
Be nice
Introduce yourself not your selling point
Try one of the several challenges: art, pic, writting...
Write about that day in the park
Tell us about your dog
Be nice
Be nice
Be nice
Easy does it!

I wasn't selling anything, i was just mentioning how i found a website who provides free GH/s while signing up with referral

I think this sounds nice.

Sure if you be nice IF I am following you for your good knowledge in the free GH area. Now, they are trying to tell you that we dont know you yet. Tell us about you, let's be friends, let's have a virtual beer and then talk to us about just anything....
You know, much more like in real life...
Keep trying ok? I promise you this place is full of really good people

Hi @bunnychum, welcome to Steemit :-)

IF STEEM FALLS UNDER THE CATEGORY OF SOCIAL NETWORK OR ARTICLE SUBMISSION SITE ?

I think it's both. The way the site works, anyone can choose to support your post if they think it contributes value to the network. They can also flag it if they think it detracts value from the network. There are no formal rules, because everyone has different ideas about what that means, but you can find various guidelines on what tends to be flagged and what tends to be ok. If you feel that they flagged you wrongly, you can appeal either to them to remove their flag, or to other stakeholders to support your post with upvotes.

I think the fact that you posted the link but didnt say it was your own referral link which means you will gain from people using it. If you are going to post referral links you should clearly state that.

It is important for us to know what effect this "flag" had on your account and what authority the flagger has. Everyone knows the bias google and youtube have. Steemit should make an extra special effort to allow free speech of all kinds and prevent any kind of "thought police" from affecting fellow steemers. Responding, opining, voting, this is all good as long as the only effect is a free battle of ideas. Hopefully this "flag" did not hurt you too much.

@way-truth-light Thanks a lot coming on the same page with me. That was my concern as well. If rules are there should be there for everyone and since it's on blockchain we should have the right to say what ever we want to say. However the post being flagged was just an informational post what i believe if people wants to join that website it's their wish, i just tried to get the information out which i found out, and before even mentioning my referral link i did read few posts, where people were mentioning their referral links to various websites...

I think you should just take your time and read people's post.i for one came here last month,i post pics and little write ups.Suddenly i post a pic and an article and some BOT starts discrediting what i posted calling it Plagrism even with references and citations. And i keep wondering what is really going on here!

Thats something i am afraid of, i think it should be treated as an article submission website. So you need to post the articles with good content instead of sharing your thoughts...

Welcome to Steemit @bunnychum!

Welcome to Steemit!

Wellcome to Steemit @bunnychum!
I think, that refferal links is one of the varieties of spam surrounding us everyvhere. I'm sure that most Steemians don't approve it, and thanks to those users or bots that clean the site from spam. There are thousands of other sites where you can leave your referral link and not be punished for it.
I'm sure you are an interesting man and have many other themes and messages that you could tell us: what kind of person you are, what you are passionate about, what bothers you and what pleases you, where you are and what your occupation...
We will be happy to read your posts and support with upvotes if you have something to tell us, in addition to the referral program

My prospect was only this, if mentioning referral link is not allowed on steemit? Then how come many people mention their referral link without any problem.
