Hello steem users. I’m calling myself blee.
I’m a near-graduation college undergrad studying physics and other natural sciences, and trying to figure out what to do with my future.

I have a lot of thoughts - pretty philosophical usually - and usually I’ve been either writing them out on facebook statuses, talking about them with a friend, or doing nothing with them. Facebook seems like the wrong platform for these essays, and I’ve been trying to move away from facebook as well due to deep distrust of its centralization of power and concealment of how it works. While I think that private sites should be able to promote positive communities by pruning content that they host, things like censorship without transparent process or accountability of the moderators are very concerning and create a lack of agency on the part of users... actually, I’ll rant about that another time.
Suffice it to say that, I believe Steemit would be a good place to write my content for, especially as I am interested in the subjects of decentralization, blockchain, incentive structures, economics, sociology, technology, anarchism, futurism & visionary thought, & other things in the zeitgeist that steemit is a part of. I also like environmental & geographic issues, urban infrastructure, transportation, education, the EA / SSC / rationalist communities, STEM, AI, geology, sustainability, and sometimes, being a little silly.

My goals for using this platform are less about making any money - although that would be cool - and more that I believe the higher standards and motivation to make better writing (with semantic hyperlinks & citations & simple formatting) will help me improve my writing abilities, without subjecting me to the stress and pressure of doing writing assignments for school (which just makes me procrastinate). I hope to receive feedback about my ideas and my writing, and to contribute to the community here.
Thanks for reading.

welcome to steemit

Hello @bleev. Welcome and congratulations on making your first post!!

Welcome

Welcome! With so many interests I'm sure you'll find a lot of people to talk with! You can also rant or be silly... whatever you feel like!
Since you're a newcomer, the best advice I can give you - don't wait for people to discover your blog. That won't happen. Engage in conversation with other users, comment on their posts as much as your RC allows and be patient!
Good luck!

Welcome to the world of SteemIt! After reading your introduction post, I think you will like it here. If you come in deciding to be part of the community, you will do fine. There is a saying around here, "Come for the money; stay for the community." You have already decided to be here for reasons other than money so you are half way there.

One of the things that will help you grow here in the world of SteemIt is to remember that community is the reason this is such an amazing place to be. To get involved in that community you want to read what everyone is writing and you want to comment, sincerely comment on what you have read. This helps to get your name out there and helps people get to know you in addition to your blog posts and videos. Comment, comment, comment is what we encourage to grow in this community. However, being new you probably have a low Steem Power (SP) which means you will have a voting power and low resource credits. (You can find that information here: https://steemd.com/@yournameHERE). The key is, while you are so low in SP, to keep your Resource Credit number to about 80%. Here's a great article by @welcomewagon to explain why: https://steemit.com/welcomewagon/@welcomewagon/80-why-you-need-to-know-it

The same is with your voting power. If you are like we were when we began, we thought the "upvote" was like Facebook's "like" button. It is, but it holds a lot more weight because you are actually paying someone Steem (money) for their work. Because of that, you don't want to push the vote button for every post you read; only vote if it really is good quality and content you truly enjoyed. Here is a video by @sethlinson that might help explain it a bit better:

We hope this helps you get around easier. You are always welcomed to ask us questions and if we don't know the answer, we will get you to someone who can. Welcome to the SteemIt Community and can't wait to see what you have in store for us all!

Welcome to Steem bleev! Partiko is officially the fastest and most popular mobile app for Steem. Unlike other Steem apps, we take 0% cut of your earnings! You can also be rewarded with Partiko Points while using Partiko and exchange Partiko Points for upvotes!

Partiko for Android can be downloaded here on Google Play and the iOS version is available here on the App Store.

If you have more questions, feel free to join our Discord channel and ask @crypto.talk, we're always here to help!

Thank you so much for your interest!
