UP I GO
Everest is the highest peak they say.
Not so!
There are many higher mountains yet --
I know...
They rise up full of challenge deep within my soul
and dare me conquer them. And conquer them I will!
Not for money. Not for friends or parents,
Not for show.
To plant the flag of self-respect,
To stand there tall with head erect,
To triumph when the odds are stacked against me,
Up I go.

Hello, everyone. This is my introductory post, and I want to thank you for reading it. The poem tells you something important about who I am. I hope to use Steemit, over time, to share the Everest inside me. Life is an adventure. I enjoy interpreting my experience of it through poems, songs, and articles. Steemit's value for me lies in the feedback it generates. An author can grow here, and I look forward to that!

I'm happy to hear from you, Frank4jesus. I appreciate the welcome. So far I haven't got this all figured out, especially when it comes to "following" each other, but I'll get there eventually. There's a lot to learn. This is the first of the social media I've tried to use, and it takes some getting used to. Thank you for following. I've followed you, and now I'll see what happens.

Thank you, Azfix! The poem is short because it said all I wanted it to say. Did you find it enough to get across a worthwhile message? I love songs that manage to get their message across with an economy of words. But what you say is true--in today's world, it's also good to take the readers' time into consideration. And talking about time, I'm going to have to make some in order to stay "with it" on Steemit!
It was perfect, and yes steemit can seem like a full time job if you let it!
