Hello Steemit! I make games and write short stories - I also take care of two cats

Hi Steemit,

I'm Zapa, a game developer that freelances as a writer in-between projects to fund his next game! A friend of mine who interviews game devs recommended me to join the community to see if my contributions could help ease the pain of freelancing.

I'm not going to lie, I went through a tough time starting my business and finishing my first game without the shackles of a publisher, but things somehow worked out! I'm hoping that by doing live streams of my work, articles on the development process and income reports on how my game performs will help me keep the lights on while I focus on my creative endeavours.

I'm joining Steemit with a single desire: show the community how I run a game development business, how I develop my games and, in case I fail and go under, to perpetuate the lessons I learned!

I have been making games since 2007 and activated as a professional in the industry (making money from game dev) since 2010! I started at Gameloft working on Asphalt 6, N.O.V.A 3, the Dark Knight Rises and moved on to other studios as a freelancer or full time creative programmer. Heck, I even took Disney and Frozen: Free Fall for a spin for a few years.

Nowadays I find myself in Iasi, Romania with my own apartment and two cats. And a business called Bearded Giant Games. And I'm happy to meet and hopefully be of some assistance to you all!

Welcome! Make sure to post more pictures of RTFM in the cat section :D

There's a cat section? Ogh them poor souls, I can write them up a whole ton about RTFM!

Welcome to steemit. I hope you wll enjoy your stay here. If you need help with anything at this platform please do not hesitate to ask me or anyone in the community. Everyone here is eager to help one another. Have a wonderful day!

Thank you :).

Still trying to figure out the platform but from what I can see it's a reddit where good and useful contributions are rewarded. Going over the FAQ and reading up on it as we speak!

Good luck, and man, as someone who was involved with Indie TTRPGs in the early 00s, it's incredible how the stories don't change as time progresses.

I really feel what newcomers need is more readily available resources of information. Then again, I think they're there, but people want to learn by doing, which is valuable in and of itself.

Good luck with future endeavours! :)

Thanks, and thank you for the welcome! Yeah, wished I had way more information available!

What projects did you work on @geekorner?

Well, it's more about indie Story Games, and while I have my name as an editor on a couple, and worked on a few short ones myself that were beta/released for free and short, I'm more talking as I spent time in The Forge and other creator communities and gave feedback to people, and read their stories of trials and tribulations and such.

In case you're curious, The Friendship Game is probably my best design, and it's short too.

Saved the PDF! Heading back to my folks place for the holidays and I was looking for a few new non-digital games to try out with my mates!

It's great meeting you geekorner!

Thanks, do tell me how it went!

You can read an actual play report and see me answering some questions here, on The Forge.

Welcome to Steemit and good luck! Hope you'll find success here. If you happen to be needing an artist for game design, fee free to hit me up.
