In the following days – I got to read wonderful articles by @cryptoctopus about writing blogs which can change and touch lives.At the same time , I started following amazing bloggers and earned some to my self. My heart felt thanks to @khatisam4 played a pivotal role by introducing steemit to me.
A successful school screening program
We perfomed an eye screening in an orphan school outside Kathmandu valley 2 weeks ago on 270 students – out of which 13 required glasses.
Here I am surrounded by little angels.
Although I have been here in steemit for only around 12 days, I had promised whatever rewards I earn from#steemit will go for a noble cause.
No amount is too little. From whatever I had from the last 10 days I could fund for 2 glasses of the needed 13 for these lovely children. With love and determination , anything is possible.

They are extremely happy and show their outmost appreciation .One of the students told me , I thought everyone sees this blurry so I thought that was normal. But she now enjoys the world as it is with fully corrected glasses.

My next project is to get a first eye surgery done by steemit rewards and I can sense that it is going to happen very soon. I will keep blogging with experiences and my charity work while at the same time enjoying wonderful stories shared by all of you from around the world.

Dear Sylvia, I will need your tentative dates so the programs do not overlap. Perhaps if you could help me reach out to meet with the principal or the authority of the school - I can co-ordinate with them . School is always the best place as - we can take care of the children, provde health education to the teachers,parents and the community as well-all under one roof. Our screening programs involve - Vision testing followed by refraction and fundoscopic examination (examination of the Retina). If we find anything suspicious - I will arrange a referral to the premier institute in eye care where everything that can be cured will be taken care of.- all investigations and treatment are cover my my organization. A very touching post and so wonderful that you are helping these children.
I can't help wondering why so many of these children have poor eyesight and need glasses? Are they vitamin deficient or is there some kind of pollutant in the water there?
May these children get all the help they need. Thanks for all you are doing.
Hi. Thanks for your kind words. These children are fine in terms of general health.
Refractive error is the most common cause of visual problem in children. It is hoghly adviced thag a child gets their first eye checked at 1 yesr then 6 montly till 3 years then yearly as the eye development occurs rapidly during this period and child might need glasses for focusing. It was just a case of unwareness. But now we have got these children screened and their vision corrected. The good news is i received an email from another school who want screning done.hope to share another story soom
