Why Judges Break The Nib Of Their Pen After Passing A Death Sentence?
Since the season of the British Raj, the custom of breaking the nib subsequent to granting a capital punishment has been trailed by Indian judges. Be that as it may, do you know why they do it?
There is more than one motivation behind why a judge resorts to this activity after he/she has passed the judgment.
Here's the reason this training is followed in courts:
Breaking the nib is a representative demonstration. It is done as such that the pen which transferred ownership of the individual's life will never be utilized to do that until kingdom come.
A capital punishment, on a basic level, is a final resort activity in managing to a great degree hostile to social acts that can't be settled in some other way.
The nib is split keeping in mind the end goal to get rid of the 'polluted' pen (having requested the demise of a man). Maybe it is finished by the judge as a method for separating himself/herself from the judgment and the blame of the same.
Judges have no forces to survey/renounce the judgment or request once it has been composed and marked. In this way the nib is likewise broken with the goal that the judge may not consider looking into his own particular judgment (no second, third musings)
As a well-known adage goes: capital punishment is a tragic, however once in a while fundamental thing and breaking the pen used to do it, communicates that distress.
