Hello Steemit!!!

Late to the party as usual, but happy to finally be writing my first post. My name is Andrew Walls, and I am a computer science student at Kutztown University (PA) currently interested in potential use cases for blockchain technology especially using tokens such as Steemit's SMT (Smart Media Token) launching here soon as well as Ethereum's ERC-20 tokens. I already have several ideas for projects I have been playing with, but believe there are endless possibilities with the potential to disrupt big market players. I want to focus my efforts on developing token-based applications similar to Steemit and DTube using existing blockchain technology. Several of my classmates and I have already begun work on a project aimed at revolutionizing the ride sharing industry using a token based rewards system as opposed to credit cards we have dubbed:

Hitchcoin

The ride share market has exploded in the last few years, but is currently dominated by just a small number of companies using standard technology/payment methods. Our goal is to create a community of riders and drivers who communicate through a mobile app to coordinate carpools using the Coinbase API for payments and also rewarding the drivers with additional "Hitchcoin" crytpo which will basically be SMT or ERC-20 tokens. In one semester, we were able to build a very basic prototype using React Native and AWS resources. We were unable to get very far and didn't begin implementation of the location or blockchain/token based features so we are looking to add people to our team who can help us ramp up development. Other Ideas

Obviously ride-sharing is only one opportunity these blockchain based tokens will offer to improve current technology. Other areas I believe are ripe for "token takeover" include: Advertisements (Esp Small Webpage), Dating Apps, Delivery Services, E-Commerce, Games, Non-Profit/Charity/Donations, Other Independent Contractor Based Businesses, and the list really just goes on and on...

I would love to here other users ideas using tokens to improve existing technology creating something that's never been seen before. I know the SMT was designed for use with content based sites so it might not work for many of these ideas, but I am hopeful its use can extend beyond just this scope as I would prefer to use it over the ERC-20 tokens. Would love to hear opinions from anyone on which would be best.
