Steem surf photo giveaway Week 4

@Intrepidsurfer has this really cool weekly contest to help promote surfing on Steemit! All you have to do is make a post with one of your surf pics, add Intrepidsurfer as your first topic (tag) and title your post as "Steem surf photo giveaway week 4". Not only is this this an excellent initiative, but he uses the profits to plant trees! Win-win-win, so participate and support this cool dude!

Michiel van der Huls

My participation this week, is a picture I made of my friend Dr. Michiel "Micho" van der Huls. This guy charges waves like no other, every time he surfs, it's a clinic. He has paved the way for local surfers on our island Curaçao and even became the national surf champion of the Netherlands three times over.

In the meanwhile he successfully completed his medical studies. Now he moved back to our island with his Wife Rocio (from Argentina) and their three children Tiara, Max and Emma. Rosio is the best female surfer at our spot, and the three kids are starting to rip it up better than many surfers ten years their senior... Micho is over 40 years old, but still the champion and King of Kanoa though! Great example of Pura vida!

This spot is a shallow, point and reef-break. All wipe-outs are to be taken very seriously here! I'm happy we al got through the last few big swells with minor taxes to the body, plenty of board damage, bruises and tweaks though!

I create art for a living, and I love to surf, so naturally it's a recurring subject in my artworks and photos. Art and surf are not far removed, both require a communion with a higher power, they both take a lot of hard work and intuition, and they both take a lot sacrifice and dedication, for those cherished moments on the edge. In the process we learn that it's not about the destination, but about the journey.
