You're The Architect Of Your Destiny, Not God

If you're one of the people who blame God for the obstacles stopping them from living their dream life, then you need to sit down now, trust me, this post is meant for you.

Truth must be said. Life isn't meant to be filled with harmony for us from the very beginning to the end. We can't always have everything we dream of. Obstacles will surely rise against. Ups and downs are meant to exist, unless you aren't doing anything worthy of living for. Certain things are meant to give you headache and sleepless nights. You can't just be having a sound sleep everyday. And for living a life which is just the opposite of the one we dream of, many of us fancy the act of blaming our Creator for having such.

How about we look into this brilliant quote from the legendary William Shakespeare

It is not in the stars to hold our destiny but in ourselves

What a show of brilliance! You are the architect of your destiny, not God.

I quoted @kaffy22 through her post about the perspectives of people towards coding with this saying, "your approach determines which way programming responds to you; easy or hard". Even though she's talking about programming and coding world, we can't scrap the fact that that saying is applicable to everyone in every line of work and lifestyle, not just in software development world.

In what sense are you exactly finding it difficult to cope?
I started to believe even being born in poverty isn't an excuse for living a wretched life through my mentor, @teekingtv who brought me to this platform. He showed this community the kind of life he was given right from birth. Probably you check that post out here. He explained how much he had suffered right from childhood. From being an object of mockery among his colleagues at school to being a child that had to go into forests to fetch some firewood just to take care of his sick father and and eat once a day alongside his mother and little sister. Now, he's single-handedly managed to become a great programmer.

Just how the hell did he survive? By being true to himself and being committed to ensuring a better life. Steve Jobs is quoted saying this:

You can’t connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backward. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something – your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. This approach has never let me down, and it has made all the difference in my life.

Whatever it is that has happened in the past is gone. Looking back and judging the future by your past is insane. The future is set by you, yourself, not what has gone or by God.

  • Are you having a bad time at work? Or you can't even secure one?
    • Are you having predicaments in your family? Or you don't even have any to call one?
Are you having a hard time trynna make a living?

No one can solve your problems for you except yourself. Your attitude to people, your way of reasoning, your way of making decision and handling things have huge impact on how your life turns out to be. I remember a quote from Tony Robbins saying:

It is in your moments of decision that your destiny is shaped.

Looking into that deeply, one can easily see it for sure that the blames for not living the life of one's dream are deservedly one's to claim. It's time to stop being idle towards the challenges that face you. You can't continue to leave your future to chance and one destiny you think is behind your misfortunes.

Embrace your destiny like it's yours to control and define, because in reality, that is how it is. Your attitude, way of reasoning and making decisions, commitment towards what you do, the plans you make and how you execute them - all these design your destiny. Go out all the way, think big, dream big, don't just have great plans but execute them as well, design it so well, because - you are the architect, not God.

Great one @temmytorpeh.
You re on point, we re responsible for everything that happens in our lives either good or bad.

For instance a producer who produces a particular commodity and refuses to advertise shouldn't blame people for not patronizing because they do not even know the product.
Any situation you re now is as a result of the way you have handled your life.

Life experience.
Due to my poor upbringing It was so difficult for me to obtain my certificates after my secondary education despite the good results from my Ssce.
After polytechnic I applied for a job, I passed the necessary tests but was disqualified because I could not tender my 'O' level results. I felt bad but I have to bear the blame because I had a non challant attitude towards it.
I lost the job because of my negligence.

I support your point. Thanks for this @temmytorpeh

Such an amazing value to be added to this post. I'm sorry you had to face such occurrence in your life. I believe you've learned lots from that. Our future is in our hands. It's ours to design.

Thanks @captain-tom

That is one fact about life. You just have to face the fact that you are the one designing your journey in this life. What happens is solely your responsibility, not someone's. So start thinking straight and make good decisions for that will determine what happens to your future.

Great piece @temmyorpeh, thanks for giving us such a great article.

That it is, my dear. Thanks for adding to this article. Our future is in our hands
