Improving knowledge - Living for or in the present moment?

in #inspiration6 years ago (edited)

Inspiration: Peaceful warrior, the movie

Recommendation: Peaceful warrior, the book

Domain: motivation reading/movie, spirituality, fun, lifestyle, personal development

Sometimes we rush to the future. Sometimes we live in the past. And if it is just sometimes, it might be good.

The problems come when we are always in other moments than now.

We have to wake up to run to job, we have to take care of the things than might happen, when we go home we have to prepare for dinner, we had a fight the other days that still stays in our head, we go to a vacation to forget about everything, but still there is an itinerary that we have scheduled.

We breath and start all over, every hour, every day, every week, than every year and the time just flies.

It’s about tomorrow and yesterday, about the next hour or the one that just pasted, it’s about all the things that come and go from our mind continuously.

And we usually call it a living. Are we happy?

Just a tricky question with lots of answers:

“I’ll be happy when I will achieve this or that.”

“Happiness is about moments of joy.”

“Happiness is something that you always look for and never find.”

And so on.

No one taught us that happiness might be about authentically living the present.

“Where are you?”

Here.”

“What time is it?”

“Now.”

“What are you?”

The present moment.”

Might life be as… complex as that? Because this is usually true only if you are a child or… a peaceful warrior.

But what living in the present moment really means? Not thinking at all about the future?

Thoughts inspired by the movie “Peaceful warrior”, although the book is much more complex and might be a different experience at all.

If you have seen the movie or read the book, you can tell your opinion in the comments below; if you haven’t, I will still be interested in your opinion on this subject.

Cheers

Hi :) read your post trough :D thank you for the info, I'll try to get the book and give it a try :) hope to see more posts like this one

Thank you! Maybe after reading you tell me what you think.

So this one is old I know but for some reason that book has been on my mind this week. I read it a long time ago. Honestly remember little . Just found it coincidental to run across the post today.
Time really is such fluid concept. It flows on no matter what we do.
Sometimes a rushing river, at times a slow drip. Yet always fluid motion.
Maybe I will read that book again.

I read it a few months ago and I remember saying like 10 times "I have to read it again". Yes, time flows no matter what, but I think good memories are created when we live in the present moment and good memories make us feel more satisfied when we ask ourself what life is about.
