Sharing my recent DIY projects!
I wanted to do a DIY post because of the #theinnerblocks community I am a part of. One of the many blocks that make up myself is being able to do some things myself rather than paying others to do it, even if it is something I have never done before!
This week was the perfect opportunity to jump in. I in fact was able to complete 2 projects this week.
First up my dryer stopped working, it would spin but there was no heat. I had this issue last year and figured it probably was going to be the same issue again. The dryer is 14 years old and the thought of buying a new one was not a good thought. So I once again got the parts, put them in butttttt no go, still no heat. After more research at https://www.appliancepartspros.com/ I found it could also be a fuse. Fuse you say? I didn't know a dryer had a fuse, what about you? After doing a continuity test on it I found it was indeed bad. Instead of ordering online to get the part I checked with a local place called Marcone Supply (they are the Largest Authorized Appliance Parts Distributor in the World with a Distribution Center network....got that from their website) I am in luck that they have one in my area. In fact I have used them a couple of times now.
That applicancepartspro site also shows you with a video how to get to your part and how to replace it. After putting in the fuse the dryer was working once again.
Here is the replacement fuse!
The other DIY project I did this week was with the 15 year old push mower. Now take a look below here and see if you can spot what is wrong!
That's right the lower handle broke..snapped right at the bolt that holds the lower to the upper handle! How does metal break like that?
After looking for a model number on the mower I was unable to find one. So how do I get the right part? I looked online for a while and then came upon this site, https://www.repairclinic.com and was able to find a part that looked like it would work but without the model number I had to do the best I could while matching up what I had with what they offered. I ordered it and it came in yesterday. Last night I went to install it and it was not a perfect match but in the end it will work after all, I will need to get a couple of zip ties to help hold it down as it wants to come up because the bolt holes didn't line up at all!
Here is the new part installed!
Since the mower has been a great mower over the many years I really didn't want to replace it just because the lower handle broke. Now it is back working again for many more seasons!
