We FEAR That Which We Do Not Understand - So let's learn more about gun statistics.
Are you afraid of dogs? No?
Jokes/kidding aside, I want to put this in here that of course I don't condone people using guns to kill innocent people. It gives me no pleasure to have to write about this subject, but people need to understand data and the facts about things so they can STOP being emotional about it. Being emotional about a logical problem doesn't solve it.
In a previous post I detailed some stats and facts on gun usage and how more people defend themselves per year by 70 to 80x(47x according to Bill Clinton Admin study), and how 200,000+ women per year save themselves form sexual abuse. Now...
Should you be afraid of dogs?
That depends! Does the dog look vicious and about to attack? Does the dog have a history of bad behavior or violence? Was the dog beaten or hurt by previous humans that would make the dog attack another human?
Did you know that your chances of you being killed by a dog or being killed in a mass shooting are about the same?
"The lifetime risk of dying in a mass shooting is around 1 in 110,154 — about the same chance of dying from a dog attack or legal execution."
There are about 300 million total guns in the USA
What do the stats on homicides look like with that many guns??? Wow it must be a lot!!!
Some things that jump out
Notice you have a 1 in 127 chance of falling and dying. thousands die per year from falling out of their bed, tens of thousands a year from accidentally suffocating while sleeping in bed. The list essentially speaks for itself, except in one thing that needs more context, the Firearms Discharge says you could die in a 1 out of 6,905 chance. In that number about 40% to 50% are suicides, which need to be taken out, because after all the focus is gun deaths on innocent people by shooters(media narrative). What about lawful gun use defenses? Those people who legally use a gun to kill someone need to be taken out too. Accidental gun death as well needs to be taken out. What about gang on gang violence in a turf war? That needs to be taken out as well... Well you get the picture, the amount of deaths on innocent bystanders drops significantly once all of these factors are removed.
Out of 75 million gun owners, there are 3 to 5 mass shooters every year. This means that 0.000006% of gun owners every year are mass shooters. "Rifles" account for about 250 homicides per year which ends up being less than 2% of all total homicides. You are 9 times more likely to be killed by a hand gun. Your chance of dying from a car crash is 1 out of 113. Do we fear driving? Not really. We understand driving, we experience driving, we are familiar with it. Anyone who said "they are afraid of driving" would be told they are being nonsensical. So why the disconnect on guns?
Well... The media of course.
$$$The Media$$$
The above picture shows the CNN townhall that had an NRA spokesperson talking to a law enforcement officer from the recent Florida school shooting. News has come out that 4 of his officers did not go in and try to confront the attack. YET HERE HE IS TELLING US ALL WHAT TO DO... mmm yup. The media portrays this as trying to get rid of these guns, of which we shouldn't because we need guns to protect from tyranny.
The hysteria on mass shootings and "action" needs to be taken NOW is very emotional, and while there is a time for emotion/love/sadness/joy in life, writing policy is not the place when we have actual statistics and data. From this recent school shooting we understand there were massive failures at every level, that the media is not telling you about because it destroys their narrative.
More people per year are killed by hands/feet/blunt objects/knives. Knives kill 6 times more than rifles or shotguns do. Do you see this on the media? Maybe on a local story sure, but it can't gin up a national emergency for them to make ad money on. People fully understand that someone who is killed by a knife or a pistol/shotgun was just unlucky/in a dispute/in a bad neighborhood/was in a gang shooting/was robbed/blah blah blah. The media knows this and can't play it up. What they do play up is the "this could be your children dead in a mass shooting" scenario.

Maybe we should ban the beds... ban things is always the solution... eliminate freedoms, not only guns should be banned, but also knives, tools and everything that can be used to hurt people, maybe we should all voluntarily put ourselves in a jail for be protected from all external evils...
This is how a leftist brain should work...

Thanks once again for sharing @truthforce waiting for next article .
I agree, taking guns out of the picture is not going to stop school mascaras, unstable people will find another way to kill on mass. But what about countries that allow you to have a gun, how many mass shootings occur in these countries compared to US England or Australia? Good article.
