Recruiting Steemers to Information War...Will You Sign Up?
We had our first Discord meeting, and kicked around some good ideas.
In the followup discussion here on Steemit, @wakeupnd made the following suggestion...
I think you could get some attention if a couple dozen people volunteer to blast steemit for a few days with everyone doing a couple of posts at different times talking about the informationwar tag or ask their followers to consider delegating SP to the cause. I would definitely help in promoting the tag and mention it to my followers.
How about this...
We get the current folks in the Information War community to run with @wakeupnd's idea. We'll coordinate with each other over this week, then next week, we'll start the recruiting blitz.
Of course, there is nothing stopping anyone from running with the idea immediately either!
So starting next Sunday, we'll run heavy on the recruitment meme for a week; I'd like to repeat the drive every six weeks or so...

How To Delegate Steempower To Help The Information War!!!
The tag informationwar, and posts that would be classified under that tag include methods of Information War, Propaganda, and Disinformation. The discussion would include governmental doctrine, historical application, Information War on the spectrum of warfare modes, recognition of fakenews, public OSINT, the concept of a Deep State and reaction to it, and critical thinking in analyzing these concepts.
The ultimate purpose of our focus on InformationWar is to provide you with the tools to defend liberty within this mode of war.
Beep! Beep! This humvee will be patrolling by and assisting new veterans, retirees, and military members here on Steem. @shadow3scalpel will help by upvoting posts from a list of members maintained by @chairborne and responding to any questions replied to this comment.
Curated for #informationwar (by @stevescoins)
Relevance: community engagement
Our Purpose
I'm down for a week long blast.
Without getting to spammy my thoughts are:
add a section in my normal posts that mentions the #informationwar tag and why it's important to support. Maybe even mention it in the title too.
Make a couple posts specifically on the theme of informationwar, the community and how to support it.
For example: the #guns tag has been very active with pro-gun and anti-gun messages after this school shooting in Florida. It would be great if information warriors could inject some truth and knowledge into these anti-gun posts and also support the people with pro-gun messages during these types of events.
That's my plan for now. Interested to see if anyone else has some ideas to help.
cant think of a single thing to add.
looks like your approach covers the basics
it's going to take a while to build up, but as Steemit expands, we should grow a bit, too
You just need a few more whales to delegate 10 or 20k SP to the cause, maybe we can get that done by end of this week. Then I think the tag will really start to grow if people know they can make a few bucks talking about conspiracy, fakenews, etc.
who do you think the more approachable whales would be?
I have stayed away from Steemit-centered engagement over my time here, for the more part...I know a couple of players by rep, but have had limited discussion with them
afraid I'm just not a social-skills guy ;>
These are some people that have supported me.
@teamsteem
@aggroed
@canadian-coconut
@v4vapid
They all have very large amounts of SP delegated to them but maybe they'd be willing to delegate 1 or 2k to the cause or maybe one of their big delegators would be interested in the cause.
I'm going to figger out a pitch to the whales; I'll run it through our community to see if folk have suggestions
I think that would be wise idea to get a few more whales involved.
sounds nice...
anyway, I will probably be putting a lot more posts into informationwar.
And this will lead to people saying why aren't you in the discord.
So, my preemptive response is that I don't have the internets to do so.
Maybe this will change.
But, I am glad to see you all moving forward here.
we run a decentralized ship LOL
do what thou wouldst!
You might simplify the purpose a little bit (not everyone is a Ph.D)
You think Einstein walked around thinking everyone was a bunch of dumb-shits? Now you know why he built that bomb
A quote from the movie Idiocracy, pretty good.
We serve different needs than #conspiracy; they present an argument, we need to be looking at breaking down arguments. Of course, we do this from our own bias, the service of liberty.
I don't mind sharing #conspiracy posts, because those arguments should be heard.
There might not even be a great community demand for the IW tag....hmmm
I'll think more about your input
I try to debunk propaganda in a lot of posts- that's why I suggest including almost anything outside the MSM narrative. If we want it to succeed, we need to create the demand. I see IW almost as an alternative news service that contains more than news, such as the philosophical underpinnings of issues.
kind of a cross of my literal definition of the tag up to now, and #conspiracy?
I suggested a different purpose definition in a different reply
I'm in the middle (actually the end) of my day off. I wasn't even going to post today but when I saw that vid this morning I had to. I'm beginning to feel like I'm going to make it!!! I'm going to bed in another hour or so.
glad you stayed up; I'm starting to like the new Our Purposemore every time I look at it.
I'll throw up a post asking for more input from our community, but I do think we're good
and dont let me keep you here; we can keep yapping manana
enjoy some rest!
Me too... Now we need some whales... I'll keep kicking in SBD but we need more than me!
or perhaps...
The tag informationwar is for posts discussing Information War, Propaganda, and Disinformation. This covers the history and methods of infowar, where it fits as a method of war, what fakenews is and how to recognize it, and tools for fighting the war.
Tools include critical thinking, logic, and intelligence methods
This also deals with the current war that the Deep State is fighting against us, and how we can fight back
The ultimate purpose of InformationWar is to give you tools to defend liberty in this war
Is that more understandable to most folks?
Yes, Yes, Yes... Perfect (and beautifully put... even an aging caveman can understand it!!!) I think worded like that it will draw people too!
thanks!
I have to get myself of the jargon-laded patterns of Professor-Steve-Think ;>
It's tough, but we don't have an academic audience for the most part here. When I first started posting I was doing it almost exclusively from an academic perspective but I noticed that I changed the language to a more journalistic style (without dumbing down the content) I got a better response. I'm going to try to get a few friends from Fakebook to come over here. We do need to try to attract a few whales
I wished I was more social; that helps.
now that we've got a discord up, I think that will help, too. I was letting my own viewpoint on off-steemit discussion hold us back
I talked like that before grad school LOL; kind of a mashup between redneck and egghead
Hey, I'm just a street thug with an advanced degree! (who's going to bed!)
ROFL good night!
"This also deal (s) with the current..." Remember... Information is power!
will fix
Did you change this again?
just the grammar error
