How We Handle Protests

Last years G20 riots in Hamburg, Germany destroyed private and public property to the tune of $13.8 Million. Thousands in black bloc with improvised weapons smashed storefronts and beat counter-protesters. At this scale, there simply were not enough police to deal with it. I don't think I want that many police either. We live in a relatively free society, not under martial law.

In France, the May Day riots paired with nationwide strikes are causing absolute havoc in the country. At some point, ordinary citizens will always be able to outnumber police. I wouldn't be surprised if the damages are massive as well.

How do we deal with riots in the US?

Immigrants defending their homes and shops from violent rioters with semi-automatic rifles and 30 round magazines. Now that's the America we need to have again. Nobody gets hurt, and nothing gets smashed or stolen. It is the best outcome and the police can divert their attention to where it is most needed. Who needs north or south Koreans when we have roof Koreans right here?

Abdication of personal responsibilities is one of our biggest issues. That photo of the Koreans defending their property is from the L.A. riots a few years back correct ?

yep LA riots

That happened in Calilfornia.
Since then california has made it increasingly difficult for citizens to buy guns.
It wasn't fair.............for the rioters.

oh how times change man

liberal infections do that.

This is one of those topics where there's no easy answer. Every protest is different and every riot is different. In some situations, police presence can make the situation worse where in others occasions it can be life saving. I disagree with how the riots about M. Brown was handled by that woman mayor (can't remember her name) but she basically wanted the police to stand down and just let the thugs do their thing while they were burning down the city and stealing/damaging other peoples property. She didn't want charges filed either, it was stupid AF. What kind of message is that sending to everyone? "Hey, let's go fuck up everything we can and steal as much shit as we can because nothing will happen!" It's a known fact that groups from other states would travel to where a protest was happening just to attempt to incite a riot. These people had no vested interest in the protest and was just looking for a payday imho. I do like the idea of people defending what is theirs and standing their ground, but not everyone can protect themselves and rely on the police for that. It's one of those things where common sense comes in to play and the police should use caution when picking their own battles. Good and complex topic to debate for sure!

I completely agree with the sentiment and there is a fine line with protest. In my eyes, a protest where people are voicing their disagreement is fine, but as soon as it becomes a riot and physical actions begin taking place there is a huge problem.

The idea of allowing people to arm themselves to defend their property I guess is that some people will do so, but some people will choose not to and that is perfectly respectable. In such an event, the police will be less stressed and not have to divert attention to those who defend themselves and instead focus manpower on those who do not defend themselves.
