An example of how corrupt and tyrannic governments use the same formula: Nicaragua 2018 - Venezuela 2017

in #informationwar6 years ago (edited)

In this post, I want to bring some stats about how legitimate protests in two socialist countries had the same response from their government forces, and to warn about what could happen in Nicaragua in the next couple of weeks, to not say months:

NICARAGUA, 2018

Started on: April 16th, 2018.

Reason of the protests: Announcement of social security reforms that raised income and payroll taxes while reducing pension benefits by 5%. Protests escalated to people asking for the dimission of Daniel Ortega, President and his wife, the Vice-President.

Leaders of the Protest: Opposition parties, student organizations, organized citizens.

Actions made by the Government to counter the protests: The protests were primarily dissuaded by the Nation Army. Use of excessive tear gas, use of firearms against protesters, illegal raids and media censorship. Hundreds of injuries and arrests.

Total Days of Protest: currently 7

Total Deaths: 26

Avg. deaths per day: 3,71

VENEZUELA, 2017

Started on: March 31st, 2017.

Reason of the protests: The pro-government Supreme Tribunal of Justice (TSJ) dissolved the opposition-led National Assembly, starting a constitutional crisis.

Leaders of the Protest: Opposition parties, student organizations, organized citizens.

Actions made by the Government to counter the protests: The protests were primarily dissuaded by the military (National Guard). Use of excessive tear gas, use of firearms against protesters, illegal raids and almost 5,000 arrests and more than 15,000 injured.

Total Days of Protest: 134

Total Deaths: 165

Avg. deaths per day: 1.23 (about 4 deaths every three days)

In the case of Nicaragua, Daniel Ortega pushed back the social security reforms, but political inestablity remains in the country. Among the killed people by the armed forces, there's a journalist, Angel Gahona, who was murdered while streaming the protests on Facebook Live. Today, marches of citizens, businessmen and students were presented in Managua demanding the end of violence in the country as well as the release of students arrested by the police and the cessation of censorship of television media, in addition to ask for a response from the government about the students who died during the protests.

Socialist Governments don't really allow political dissent, as they use force instead of ideology to diminish their effects. The route that they're taken it's very similar to the protests last year in Venezuela. Hope it won't be the same aftermath.

It is our duty to spread the truth. If you agree, i invite you to resteem the post. Let's prevent the world for what could happen if we don't take a stand against Socialist Tyrannies.
