It took just a month and a half for the “most capable Intelligence service in the World” to find the obvoius: Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman personally ordered the killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi in Turkey, the CIA concluded according to a Washington Post report citing “people familiar with the matter”. Congratulations.

Not only that, the US foreign espionage agency assessed it with “high confidence” that the prince was behind the death of the Post columnist.
So, they needed only a month since Turkey offered irrefutible evidence that Khashoggi was murdered in a most horrific fashion imaginable which exclude any “rogue elements” stories, and a visit from the most experienced torturer, CIA chief Bloody Gina to Istanbul, to conclude the obvious — with “high confidence”!
Oh, BTW, the linked article reveals that CIA had a phone call that the prince’s brother Khalid bin Salman, the Saudi ambassador to the United States, had with Khashoggi, and call at his brother’s direction, which was intercepted by U.S. intelligence.
And now the most interesting part — despite everything…
The CIA sees Mohammed as a “good technocrat,” the U.S. official said, but also as volatile and arrogant, someone who “goes from zero to 60, doesn’t seem to understand that there are some things you can’t do.”
CIA analysts believe he has a firm grip on power and is not in danger of losing his status as heir to the throne despite the Khashoggi scandal. “The general agreement is that he is likely to survive,” the official said, adding that Mohammed’s role as the future Saudi king is “taken for granted.”
So, you can label a real butcher “good technocrat”, as long as he is “a key ally in the Middle East and bulwark against Iran”. Those two paragraphs describe the nature of US administration much better than they describe Mohammed bin Salman…

Good analysis. It seems like the typical finger wagging by USA to make it seem like they are angry. What’s sad is that Khalid is on social media ‘clarifying’ the truth. He seems worse at lying with a straight face than that old Iraqi propaganda minister under Saddam.
