Is the coming Grand Solar Minimum cooling the planet and leading to a global food crisis?

Hey there I found out just recently that climate change is not what we are being told it is. Apparently some say that a Grand Solar Minimum will be cooling things for us not warming. That, and the commoditizing of food on the stock market, will result in a food shortage problem, creating a potential “black swan” event, something unpredictable and very rare. That’s what I’m discussing here today.

The Chicago stock exchange and probably others, call food a commodity. Gold and oil are commodities. Food, on the other hand, is actually a basic human right, even enshrined in the UN millennium development goals. All people should be freed from hunger and have access to water. The problem when you put food into the category of a purely speculative tokenized asset like one traded on the stock exchange, is that it then becomes a means to an end other than feeding the hungry. It becomes a means to profit first, and a food item second. It loses its importance as a means of life. Traders then see it differently.

For example when the quality of the harvest varies, due to climate shifts or whatever, then the price can go through spikes of sorts – to the upside and to the downside. And that creates a knock on effect where it then moves out of the reach of the people who actually need it simply to survive, not just to make profit. It pushes up the price for everyone. At times like these, grains can triple in price. In the sub-prime loan crisis of 2008 – the Great Recession – food went up too, as well as the fuel price, which affects trucking or freight costs to get the food to your store. This is almost unfair to the masses that need grains to survive. Wheat (for bread), maize, rice, oats and millet are some of the staple foodstuffs for millions. If they are controlled at the stock market, it means economists have the say as to whether people eat or not, instead of the government, or better still, the food just being distributed as it should be.

Perhaps I’m naïve but I believe the feeding of the masses comes before the profit of the traders. Food is life, more than money. Regardless of your wealth, if there is no food available, you will starve. And as Bob Marley sang – “A hungry man is an angry man”. And that is what scares the big bankers and the economic elite. They cannot fully control the food price because it is dependent on weather conditions. So if there is a drought or hail and a crop shortage, the price will be obliged to rise due to scarcity, and that will make the masses hungry and they will in turn take to the streets in protest. You cannot stop a hungry mob, and that mob will turn their anger on the PTB (powers that be) including the bankers and government. And they will ruin it for the banking elite who had a grip on the masses up until now.

To prevent too much of this from happening, the mass media is controlled and reports of food shortages are suppressed. Weather-related crop disasters are also not covered as much as they could be. For example the current climate change that we are going through is bringing increased hail storms with bigger hailstones than usual, which are damaging crops in places around the world, including the EU. These freak hail storms are a symptom of the Grand Solar Minimum arriving apparently. Also in December 2017, for example, places in Russia had their darkest month ever, in the sense that there was the least amount of sunshine ever recorded in a month. This could be due to the Grand Solar Minimum, a scientific analysis of the sun spot cycles. There are 11 year cycles of greater and lesser sunspot activity and it directly affects out climate and atmosphere.
And there are greater cycles of solar activity. We are currently heading into an era of extremely diminished sunspot activity as the sun cools slightly and becomes less active, more extreme than the usual 11 year shifts. As a result less solar flares means less magnetic protective shielding for our planet. It also means less heat reaching us and thus a direct cooling influence is predicted in the coming decade, starting in 2021. Actually it has already started but that date will be particularly noticeable.

So there is a lot of disinformation going around with propaganda and fake news saying that carbon emissions are causing the planet to heat up. But it’s a lie. It’s a con to get the world to pay a fake carbon tax. The weather is more influenced by the sun than any anthropogenic (manmade) effort or ignorance from us. There may be pollution, but it will be like nothing in comparison to the cooling of the sun and its effect on our climate, according to researchers on the Grand Solar Minimum. I’m no expert but I have seen studies and the case seems interesting. Apparently any place north or south of the 45 degree latitude in some places, or the 55 degree latitude in Europe and Asia, will be too cold to farm one day as the “mini ice age” arrives.

And this has happened before several times in the past. There are historical records of times when the Thames River froze over in the winter months for a few years. We are talking about that kind of subtle chill factor kicking in, where life goes on but it gets considerably colder, and crops are affected badly, leading to food shortages and possibly riots as a worst case scenario globally. And this is what will bring down the current financial and governmental systems in some places. A hungry mob is your worst problem as a dictator or elite banker. They will kill or die to feed their children. We have had what is known as the “Maunder Minimum” (1650-1700) and the “Dalton Minimum” (1800-1820) when the Thames River froze regularly, so we have lived through such events easily enough, but it will get cold. It’s coming again, so the GSM researchers say.

Check out https://thegrandsolarminimum.com for more details if you wish.

You also get Solar Maximums, and we have just come out of one. That’s why temperatures have gone up in this past century somewhat, and the whole climate change concern began as “global warming”. Well that is over and we’re on track for “global cooling” so get your indoor vertical gardens ready and learn self-sufficiency because crop losses may be on their way. Bill Gates and the GM scientists are already breeding a tougher cow to handle new conditions. Soon you will have genetically manipulated everything, including cows.

I’m a vegetarian living in Africa and I recommend you guys in the upper latitudes find out about this as you may be more affected. I already have drought here to worry about some years so times have already shifted over the past decade or two for the worse here. But Africa is around the equator as you know so won’t feel the cooling as much. And China knows this too which is why they are invading Africa subtly at present by their economic aid programmes. They will be taking control of the last remaining food growing regions here as their northern latitude regions become lost to ice and snow. My country is already sold out to the BRICS group run by China. We are indebted to the Chinese to such a degree that our country will even deny the Dalai Lama a visa to visit because China already decimated Tibet with genocide and war crimes and is smashing Buddhism and any non state-centric adherence. We are already a province of China, as are several African states which will be growing the food for the world more than ever in the next decade. China already has their military base in Africa near the horn.

The good news is that apparently these solar minimums bring with them an increase in consciousness or learning. Perhaps people are forced indoors and become more sedentary and studious. Or perhaps they are obliged to learn new innovative methods to survive. Certainly new forms of agriculture will be required in a coming cold era. And this era could go on for decades or the rest of our lives actually. This is not a single season we’re talking about. In the previous minimums we had what historians call “the year without a summer” for example, when there was so much cloud or cold all year long over Europe that summer never really arrived. This is what I have heard from my research. I’m no expert and am simply putting it out there to inform others who may be interested. There are arguments for and against so we have to do our own research and decide individually.

One thing that sounds striking is that our sun is cooling in predictable cyclic fashion, leading to our magnetosphere waning, as solar winds drop. This apparently will lead to greatly increased volcanic and earthquake activity, as well as the cold spell mentioned. And volcanic activity means more layers of smoke covering the globe and blocking sun from facilitating plant growth. Whether the GSM will be that bad or not is anyone’s guess, but if it affects the food supply which is already being compromised by capitalist traders trying to make a profit on our human rights to food then it is a concern. Let me know what you think about these fascinating predictions on the coming Grand Solar Minimum. I’m keen to learn from others willing to share insights so we can all benefit from this shared open source system of knowledge exchange. Who knows, maybe it will help to keep the wolf from the door, literally.

I am not completely sure about a global cooling or warming but I know resources must be regulated by community, otherwise it will be business, "sales" deciding our fate.

For sure @halo4shaun good point.

I think you are correct in worrying about the solar minimum. Cold weather is survivable. However, it makes it very difficult for growing food at the rates that the world is accustomed to growing.

With this in mind, I would call your attention back to the beginning of your post in which you go over the commoditization of food. Price increases can also be seen as transport costs. For example, if one year Iowa goes completely underwater and is unable to produce corn, the price of corn would naturally go up due to the shortage. The only way to get corn from other places is to incentivize farmers from other states or other countries to bring it to where we need it. Otherwise, they could just as easily sell their commodity at home for the same price. Expensive corn is preferable to no corn when you are hungry.

We may see a preview of the effects of cooling. It is expected that there will be flooding in midwest states this year. In my part of Texas, we have had a much longer than usual cool season. Last year was relatively mild.

Another thing to keep in mind is that hurricanes gather and release energy from the ocean. We have had relatively quiet hurricane seasons, which is little consolation for Puerto Rico, mind you. Hopefully the solar minimum is more moderate than it has been at other times.

I see you are experiencing weather shifts there too. I wonder how cold it will get? The floods don't look too good. USA has been hit quite badly in recent years with floods, mostly from hurricanes of course. It could be the new norm.

I would not call it a new norm. After all, these are natural fluctuations that are well within the known historical range. I do think that global warming enthusiasm has left us ill-prepared for a cold cycle.

Yes good point. There is a small group only talking about strengthening greenhouses for the hail.

I agree that climate change is caused by natural phenomena and not my automobile! Politicians would like you to believe that it's something that can be controlled be legislation. Good luck with that. All the laws and taxes can not change nature!

Actually, it is your car (and my car and the millions of others and the fossil fuel power plants, etc.). If you have clear evidence to the contrary, you could easily publish it in Science or Nature and become famous. I got off of facebook because of anti-scientific posts like this. I hope Steemit doesn't go that route. The evidence that humans are causing the massive warming has been clear for some time. Yes, there are natural cycles, but those cycles are now just blips in the increasing global temperature.

You may want to watch youtube channel Ice Age Farmer, or Oppenheimer Ranch or Adapt2030. Those three will contradict your opinion based on science with their opinion based on science.

Well said sir.

Personally I think the wrong ones are in power and things need to change fast...

It may well be on the verge of a big change, though I doubt the leadership will shift unless we really make a big push as a collective.

I can't see them letting us do that; look at France, they have the army on the streets now. They know what the stakes are and won't let their kingdom go easily.

Good point Wales.

I've read a bit about the climate changing, and the effects it will have on us all. Definitely worrisome, and worth further investigation. Thanks for sharing this, @julianhorack.

I have been following Matin Armstrong with his computer program "Socrates" which picks up these cycles and he warns of the coming mini iceage and encourages folks to start growing food indoors (in a controlled environment). We have taken his advise and have set up our indoor grow room which i have been posting on - now at part 11 in the series. I posted about my indoor gardening experience with hopes that people can learn from my experience.
The latest post (which also shows the snow on April 1st - and it snowed here yesterday April 6 too, making us wonder if spring will ever come) that will have the list of all previous posts in the series is at: https://steemit.com/gardening/@porters/april-fools-day-and-spring-is-playing-tricks-on-us-plus-indoor-garden-update

The data, scientific analysis, and models of climate change are now very clear. The globe is warming due to human emissions of greenhouse gases. We are already facing serious problems and unless we take drastic measures those problems will get more and more serious. The biggest impediment to making those changes is the spread of false information and opinions that are not based on the evidence. It took me some time to find credible articles, pointing to scientific papers on the global solar minimum, but you can find one here (https://www.theguardian.com/environment/climate-consensus-97-per-cent/2018/jan/09/the-imminent-mini-ice-age-myth-is-back-and-its-still-wrong). Note that the best science (which is the best that we can do at this point) shows that a GSM would reduce temps by -0.5C. See the graph showing just how little effect this has on the models for climate change--the world will still be in trouble. If we got a bad GSM, it would give us around 15 years, but once it ends, that slow down will be gone. So please, stop hurting our children and grandchildren. It is good to be skeptical, but to ignore the overwhelming evidence, models, and scientific expertise behind climate change is frankly irresponsible. Could the science be wrong? Yes, the globe may warm more slowly, or we might find a way to engineer ourselves out of the problems, although so far we are finding that the globe is warming at an even faster pace than predicted. That said, I share your concern about big business and politicians exploiting people. Most who deny climate change do so because they profit from it. The growing inequality then makes the best solutions to stem climate change, politically unpopular. A carbon tax is widely believed to be the best approach, but most of us can't afford such a tax. This is why the green new deal focuses on shifting to alternative energy instead. FiveThirtyEight has a good article on the political issues around a carbon tax and how the green new deal bypasses some of the problems: https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/the-green-new-deal-is-impractical-but-practical-solutions-havent-worked-either/

The Guardian newspaper will only print MSM politically engineered propaganda, I won't be reading them for any science.
There seems to be a split in opinions, as there are numerous scientists propounding the GSM theory who seem to be as concerned as you are about the children. These are just theories. But I certainly have heard a lot about the GSM and I like what I hear. I don't believe you or the propaganda from MSM. I just don't believe you. I have read too much other info that makes you sound like that con man Al Gore conning the world with a carbon tax scam. Pollution is a problem of course and we need to get off carbon. But we could have done that decades ago. The fact that the powers that be have not replaced carbon fuels in cars is in my opinion because they don't want to. They want to make money from the dirty oil and fossil fuels for a while longer. All the tech is there but the political will is blocking it. That is the real crime - that they knowingly harm our children and grandchildren, so let's turn our focus on the real criminals who do this.
You opinion based on science is as valid as the GSM based on science that is easy to find on youtube. It's an information war for the minds of the masses, while the powers that be don't seem to care about your children I noticed, otherwise they would have removed fossil fuels decades ago. Electric vehicles have been around for a long time.
