RE: How Mass Shootings End.

in #informationwar6 years ago

as a viewpoint of an outside i hardly can relate to this. I am living in germany and for most people here the idea that people around yourself are carry a gun is extremely scary.

Why do you think you have internalized that irrational fear? In Germany do you get American films and television? I have seen some German films, they seem to have a lot of gun violence. Here in America on scripted TV and in movies and games guns are used as plot devices, every single time they are shown on the screen they are inevitably going to be used at some point in the film, almost always inappropriately and always for violence. So if the only experience of guns you have is from media you are being conditioned to fear guns.

But in real life guns are not often plot devices, the average handgun in America is used in a homicide once every 10,000 years, mostly they just sit there and don't advance any plot, people who actually have guns know this and become desensitized to the conditioning of irrational fear.

Here shootings simply does not happen because nobody has a weapon. The most tragic incidents are with the few people owning a gun at home. (like going crazy and shoot at people outdoors or one of the kids successfully get the hands on the families gun and go with it at school ....)
And it is really rare.

It's not true that no one has a weapon there, German civilians are the 4th best armed on Earth. There are 25,000,000 guns there. So maybe there is another reason there are fewer shootings there? How many million drug gang members do you have there? What is the literacy rate there compared to here? How about the way you deal with criminals, do you think your prisons are the same as ours?

"if more people do own weapons, more people who want to do harm, will have the chance to do it. At least i see it that way."
If you check out my other article, the gun debate in 6 charts, you will see that the actual numbers in America are the opposite of what you just predicted, we see that as America has expanded not only the number of guns in circulation but also the number of states where people can carry to all of them, gun homicide has declined.

Did you never thought about why all these mass shootings etc. are soooooo widespread in america, but like everywhere in the world its like non-existing.

They are not really that widespread in America, just the media coverage of them, did you ever wonder why suicide bombers are so widespread in your country but not in America? do you need more bomb laws? Do you need more truck laws? School shootings are down over the years along with gun homicides.

I live in a city with over 110k population and in my 21 years living on this planet ;) there wasnt a single shooting or bad situation(except that one incident a refugee went crazy and attacked a few tourist in a train with an axt). Just my thoughts. Anyway have a great day and i hope it does not seem i just want to piss you off :)

I bet you probably don't even know about your own city just as much as all your other premises were false. What city are you claiming had no shootings at all ever in it?
We have a city like that in America, they require everyone to own a gun. VT requires no permits to buy or carry any gun for an adult with a clean record, their gun homicide rate is about the same as Germany or better, one or two shootings will throw off the numbers because of the small population.

I like that you ask questions and I hope you are open to the answers. There is a lot of bullshit anti gun propaganda that is promulgated overseas, look into the actual numbers and trends. More guns than ever, fewer fatal accidents and homicides, that's what's up.
