He's likely not. He was born in 1955.
The last combat marine unite pulled out of viet nam in 1971
He'd have been 16 at the time.
but wait..there's more. It takes a long time to train a marine. They didn't just enlist, get handed a gun, and go to war.
Basic Training.
Advanced Infantry Training.
Speciality training.
it took a while.

Yup. I read a thread on a military news site and one of the guys broke down the age, time frame and status of sending troops to Vietnam in that time frame.
