The Importance of Teacher Training | Pentingnya Pelatihan Guru
Teachers are an important factor for successful education. When we talk about the quality of education, the quality of teachers is questionable and teachers are responsible for the low quality of education, especially in formal education institutions such as schools. Teachers should be the figure of professionals in charge of carrying out the learning process, guiding and training so that students have skills that are beneficial for themselves and for society in their environment. In formal education is generally for teachers to be role models and often used as role models. The success of learning is determined by the readiness of teachers in preparing methods and models so that students are interesting to follow the lessons taught by teachers.
To be a professional teacher is not an easy thing. Teachers need to improve the competence of both teaching methods as well as increasing mastery of teaching materials. This is not enough only with the willingness of the teachers themselves, but it needs the support of all parties, especially the education office.
There are several ways that can be done to increase teacher competence, among others :
Teacher Training
Teacher Training activities are conducted to improve teachers' ability in teaching and learning process. Through this activity is expected to emerge new ideas or learning models that have not been known by the teacher. Subject Teacher Consultation (MGMP) is a forum for teacher work group to solve problems faced by teacher of study area in learning process. Teachers in the field of study make regular meetings to discuss or discuss difficult material, compose a grid of the final exam of the semester

Guru merupakan salah satu faktor penting untuk berhasilnya pendidikan. Pada saat kita berbicara mutu pendidikan maka mutu guru ikut dipertanyakan dan guru ikut bertanggung jawab terhadap rendahnya mutu pendidikan terutama di lembaga pendidikan formal seperti di sekolah. Guru harus menjadi sosok tenaga profesional yang bertugas melaksanakan proses pembelajaran, membimbing dan melatih agar siswa mempunyai ketrampilan yang bermanfaat bagi dirinya sendiri dan bagi masyarakat dilingkungannya. Dalam pendidikan formal umumnya bagi siswa guru menjadi panutan dan sering dijadikan tokoh teladan. Berhasilnya pembelajaran sangat ditentukan oleh kesiapan guru dalam mempersiapkan metode dan model sehingga siswa menarik mengikuti pelajaran yang diajarkan oleh guru.
Untuk menjadi guru yang profesional bukanlah hal yang mudah. Guru perlu meningkatkan kompetensinya baik metode mengajar maupun peningkatan penguasaan bahan ajar. Hal ini tidak cukup hanya dengan dengan kemauan guru sendiri, tetapi perlu dukungan semua pihak terutama dinas pendidikan.
Ada beberapa kegiatan yang bisa dilakukan agar kompetensi guru meningkat, diantaranya :
Mengikuti Penataran Guru.
Kegiatan penataran guru dilakukan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan guru dalam proses belajar mengajar. Melalui kegiatan ini diharapkan muncul gagasan-gagasan ataupun model pembelajaran baru yang belum diketahui oleh guru. Nara sumber kegiatan biasanya mempunyai tingkat pendidikan yang lebih tinggi dari peserta pelatihan.Mengaktifkan Kelompok diskusi Guru
Musyawarah Guru Mata Pelajaran (MGMP) merupakan suatu wadah kelompok kerja guru bidang study untuk menyelesaikan masalah-masalah yang dihadapi guru bidang study dalam proses belajar mengajar. Guru bidang studi membuat pertemuan secara rutin untuk membahas atau mendiskusikan materi yang sukar , menyusun kisi-kisi soal ujian akhir semester.

The need for trained teachers cannot be over emphasis, but students must be prepared to learn. There little or nothing a teacher can do to a student who is not prepared to learn.
