काल कीर ने किसी तालाब में सिगाड़ों की खेती की। तालाब
के किनारे विशाल वटवृक्ष था। वह उसके नीचे एक झोंपड़ी बनाकर
रहता था। एक दिन बादशाह की फौज आई। फौज के सैनिकों ने
बट-वृक्ष के नीचे अपना डेरा लगाना शुरू किया। सोचा कि छाया भी।
बहुत अब्छी है और पानी के लिए भी तालाब है।
कालू कीर ने देखा कि ये लोग सब मेरे पके हुए फल खा जायेगे
और मुझे कहेंगे कि सब फल लाकर हमको दो, इसलिए वह साधु रूप
धारण कर झोंपड़ी में बैठ जाऊँ, सोचा मुझे कोई नहीं सताएगा। वह
सिर्फ एक लंगोटी लगाकर माला लेकर राख लगाकर बैठ गया।
इतने में बादशाह हाथी पर सवार होकर आया। कालू कीर को
देखा यह कोई खुदा का बन्दा है मालिक की बन्दगी कर रहा है।
