RE: Technology taking away tech jobs

in #india6 years ago

I am not sure if this is the same for other regions of the world, but in the UK we are actually struggling to get workers for traditional tradesman jobs - Plumbers, Electricians, Gas Engineers, Builders - because more trendy digital and online work is attracting the modern day school leaver. The irony is the lack of skilled workers in these traditional jobs is making the positions very well paid - so the few that learn these trades are earning far better (and in a more reliable and long term job) then those looking at online work.

The same situation is not too far here in India as well @c0ff33a. We also have scarcity on the traditional workers. In ancient India, the work was systematically categorized as a part of their family tradition. A carpenter's son will definitely know carpentering and at the same time he will also learn other skills. But now they are blindly into IT industry struggling to even get a job. They say it is competitive but I would say they are not in the right place. People are just trying to get into an industry just because it pays well. This is ridiculous.
