The trending page should be what people look at for a good read or something interesting. I honestly don't even visit it as it is not a true reflection of this platform. I honestly think they should change the name to something else. Trending should be all about well written articles.
Every user is responsible for cleaning the site. We are all stake holders. I have no problem with promotion, I have a problem with unchecked abuse.
