IFC S1 R29 - Entry- Summing up Steemit and the IFC

in #ifc6 years ago (edited)

This post is an entry for the Information Finding Championship hosted by @apolymask.
The theme of this round is Elevator Speech to sell Steemit, cryptocurrency, or the IFC. The description of the round is below.

This Quest topic is the Elevator Speech. I have been talking to people about Steemit, Cryptocurriences, and the IFC and I just get so excited by the end of the conversation I can’t remember what the hell I just talked about, so I am sure the person I was conversing with doesn’t either! That got me thinking of a good elevator speech. The elevator speech is a short informative message that provides all the information someone may need to remember you! It’s your “business pitch.” Ideally this would not last longer then a 30-45 second elevator ride, hence elevator speech.

If you are interested in joining you can find more information right here.

I have already won a round, so I am not technically entered into this contest but I want to make a submission to practice my pitch to future Steemians.

Explaining Steemit Real Quick

Picture if Reddit and Bitcoin had a baby, Steemit is this baby. The 'karma' that you would receive from posting high-quality content that gets many votes would be the cryptocurrency called Steem. The more of this currency you have, the more worth your vote has. So, it incentivizes you to craft fresh content, rather than spamming.

It will take roughly a week to get your email registered, and you will most likely have to message the help center to get it done. After that, I suggest absorbing yourself into the community and finding people that will assist you through your time on the platform. It may take a while to realize your niche and gain some Steem, but don't get discouraged, I can help you find some good people if you join.

Me Explaining the IFC

One of those groups I was telling you about is the IFC (information finding championship). The creator posts different challenge(s) each week and people write blogs about them. The first topic that I wrote about was 'How to make money from home/internet.' Another week, I did a scavenger hunt that had me hunting down a Lego Man and a rubber duck.

You obtain experience by winning rounds that are voted on by 3-5 judges, so it isn't about how many overall votes you get. There are also opportunities to gain more experience through catch-up rounds. The winner by the end of the season receives 158 Steem.

Overall, the IFC community is excellent especially for newcomers and can help you navigate though Steemit, even if you aren't participating in the contest.

Great pitch for both steemit and the IFC! The reddbit bitcoin babies thing made me laugh. Also I'm not sure if I should even try to correct this or not but when you said "The winner by the end of the season receives roughly 500 USD." I got a weird impression, and I'm sure you just meant that's what the 158 steem is roughly translated into. But it could end up being more or less than that. I personally think it will be more especially if someone holds it for a while. :D But I get you were trying to say it's roughly worth that amount, you have have wanted to preface it with.. It's 158 steem which is worth roughly 500 USD. Otherwise some people might get the impression it's a cash USD reward instead of steem, but I digress. Not a big deal. Thanks for entering such a good entry even though you aren't eligible for a win on this one. :) I like it when people do that, especially on a round that wasn't getting a lot of entries.. Anyways I'ma shut up now cause I tend to ramble. Cheers!

Right, considering that Steem is at its highest since I joined it would probably better just to say the Steem amount since it could drop like a rock or take off like a rocket the next time I talk to someone. That was what I translated it to. And that is how I initially read Steemit's description, but I can't remember where exactly. I just changed that, considering that I would talk about Steemit first, it would make sense to just say the reward amount in Steem.
