RE: IFC - Championship Round: "THE POWER OF LOVE"
What an amazing story @youhavewings!!! I guess it's really true; you don't know what you've got til it's gone :) Brian and I were caught in something similar in Cancun, and it was terrifying. He ran out of energy and thankfully we were in a hotel zone where there was a rope that blocked the boats from entering the "safe" swimming area! I just made it in time and grabbed onto the rope and just barely reached Brian's fingers to pull him in. He says he was ready to give up. I was totally reliving it as I was reading your story, but I love how you described the peacefulness of 'giving up' and Bill's final selfless act of love. So beautiful!!
I found your post because @bengy featured you in our Pay it Forward Curation contest. I'm one of the judges, and we'd love to have you join us with an entry of your own next week too, especially if IFC is over and you need a little void to try and fill :)
Oh goodness, my reply disappeared :(
Thank you for your comment and feedback, @lynncoyle1
Amazing that you and Brian had a similar experience. It is terrifying! And I was very surprised by the 'peace' that came - not sure exactly what that was - perhaps the adrenaline rush leaving the body or something more. It was a surprising element to the experience. I was re-living the experience while I was writing it - very intense. Was a beautiful moment, too though. Every emotion under the sun :)
Thank you for your invite. I learned about Pay it Forward from @bengy's post, too! I thought about submitting an entry but I didn't have the time at that moment and was scouting for additional bloggers. But I will have a little more time before school fully kicks in and I hope to participate - looks like a really wonderful project you all are doing over there.
Have a beautiful day in your very special Playa del Carmen :) Looking forward to seeing your next post already.
