Steemit Knots, an idea of places to share subject specific, group created content on Steemit

in #ideasfactory7 years ago (edited)

Hi steemians, after a while using Steemit I think we could also have an option to create content in a more colaborative way, in shared spaces with other fellow users.

Somewhat like we already do in Facebook fanpages and groups, in Medium multi user publications or even some of us did in the old Orkut (former Google's social network very popular here in Brazil and India) communities.

If the @steemitusername blog is the individual channel the steemit.com/knot/groupname could be a subject specific group channel that allow members to publish or resteem posts into.

Would you join or follow a steemit.com/knot/groupname?

For example, if someone likes a place, artist, food, movie, book, etc, he could create knots for them and let other users to join or follow it.

Would you join or follow steemit.com/knot/bobdylan or steemit.com/knot/wutangclan, or both? What about /knot/chicagocurbs or /knot/realmadrid? Would you have an interesting story to share in /knot/starwars, /knot/gameofthrones or /knot/50shadesofgrey?

Perhaps it would work like the actual hashtags in the way to agregate content, but the diference is that you could publish the post only in the knot if you want.

I think it could help users to participate and create content more easier as you can share stories about subjects you already have affinity with but don't need to show in your blog.

Afterall, I hope it could atract new visitors and users interested in follow specific Steemit Knots, share theirs opinions and join the group discussions.

What do you think, is it feasible, it could work?

Thank you for your attention and long live to Steemit and the blockchain revolution!

I think it is not only a great idea but a must.. Especially when Steemit will become multilingual.

Thanks! I agree sbout languages, for sure many of the knots/groups created would be about local popular subjects and personalities. Also famous neighbourhood's atractions, shops and events too.

Thank you! I saw you live in India, did you know Orkut social network? Do you think their communities model could be an inspiration to Steemit?

I used Orkut briefly and it was very popular in India. My friends and I used it to organise a few motorcycle rides and related events back in the day and share post-event stuff.

I think Steemit will develop it's own version to improve user engagement over time but it would certainly help to take notes from existing and previously successful models for communities.

Absolutely. Humans are an important resource, so it would make sense to have a group setting to bounce ideas off each other with the same speed as Facebook does with its groups. In fact, you could essentially use it almost like a kickstarter for your own website with an already created fan-base, while still drawing traffic onto SteemIt's site.

Thanks for commenting! I think the launch of communities features was mentioned in the road map but now with the focus on Smart Media Tokens would it be better use it to gather users around specific interests. Thanks and good luck again!
