BCharity - Innovating The Way Charities Help People In Need

in #ico6 years ago (edited)

Blockchain technology is disrupting a myriad of industries and is introducing innovation to those stagnant business models that can be improved by using distributed ledgers. From social media, to medical care to e-commerce to the gaming industry. Blockchain technology is proving day by day that it's time to improve the digital world as we know it and that is possible to do so in every aspect of it. In this post, I'll be talking about how blockchain technology will help improve the charity business model around the globe.

BCharity is an international charity exchange. This means that is a bridge for interaction between individuals, funds and organisations across the world. It's aiming to resolve the current issues with the traditional systems we use to help people in need by removing barriers, intermediaries, bureaucratic regulations to increase effectiveness in charitable actions. The main problems or barriers in the charity space are geographic barriers. These are often because of the lack of an international platform that can connect those in need with philanthropists around the world.

Also, current charities face a language barrier and this restrict people from different countries or continents to team up and concentrate their help as much as possible. Some regions and countries even lack the presence of charity organisations so they can't even expect help in the first place.
If this isn't already enough to make it difficult, we also have the problem that traditional charities are susceptible to be fraudulent. History has revealed that lots of organisations that have received funds for a good cause, too often utilise this funds for a bad cause by taking complete or partial possession of the funds to satisfy their own purposes, leaving the people in need, still in the same situation. But not all of them are bad. But some, are too small that too often they lack the financial support or connections.

So how is BCharity helping? By being the first international charity exchange using blockchain technology to address modern issues facing global human needs.

It will establish a cryptocurrency exchange to facilitate purchases of the token (CHAR) via fiat and other cryptocurrencies. It will also implement a social network interface on top of the exchange allowing organisations, foundations or individuals to showcase their proposals. Everyone is welcome to participate and with little to no effort, BCharity will make this possible and the use of smart contracts will make the business model as transparent as it can be.

BCharity will solve the language barrier with its BCharity translate by making english the base language of the platform and encouraging people to help translating content for charities. Artificial Intelligence based translations are still in the works, but it will be utilised and developed by the team in the future to make the process seamlessly and smooth. The system in the meantime, will encourage translators to participate with a rank based system so TOP Translators can generate sustainable income for helping charities to showcase their story and needs.

So there's 2 ways to receive donations.
BCharity users who represent charities, will be able to withdraw funds to their Ethereum wallets and with the help of the BCharity exchange, users will be able to exchange the tokens for fiat.
Another is taking in mind, if the funds and organisations are unable to handle cryptocurrency transaction for X or Y reason. This will create a "request to transfer" document. where donations will be transferred to a verified bank account.

There will also be a rating system to rate charities and donators. Donators will be ranked based on the number of donations and total quantity. And charities will be ranked based in the number of people they are helping, the successful charitable actions as well as the amount of donations collected.

So what if you want to participate in the token sale?
BCharity is holding a token sale where they will emit 100,000,000 tokens where 80% will be available for the sale.
There's going to be a private sale, a pre-sale and a main sale.

The private sale will allocate 5% of tokens (4 million CHAR) where 1 CHAR will be equivalent to $0.35. This will be conducted in March. The hardcap for this private sale will therefore be set to $1,400,000.

Then we have the pre-sale which consists in 10% of the tokens (8 million) at a price of $0.50. This will be in April. The hardcap therefore will be set to $4,000,000.

Then we have the main sale, where the rest of the 80% of the total tokens (68 million) will purchased at a price of $1. This will make the hardcap of $68,000,000 for this stage.

The company is aiming to raise in total $73,400,000 which is a pretty decent amount for the type of project it is considering it's the first of its kind.

This gets me excited because it's going to be a very transparent way to help charities in need, and the project is aiming at helping some main issues like:

Natural disasters
Armed conflicts
Medicine
Education
Sport
Religion
Art
Society
Animals

Pinkcoin is a charity-based cryptocurrency that's been around for about 4 years, and it's on two of the three biggest altcoin exchanges(Bittrex and Poloniex). No ICO, no pre-mine, and great fundamentals. As Elypse from #Pinkcoin says, "ICO's launching under the guise of charity is not what altruism is about."

On the bright side, these new charity ICO's(the other one being "Giftcoin") are showing the validity of Pinkcoin's use-case. A little healthy competition is a good chance for the charity niche to gain some traction too.

See our recent article about Pinkcoin here

Pinkcoin is an awesome project. Was one of the first coins I got exposed when I got involved in cryptocurrencies in 2016. I haven't follow up the charities PINK has help over the years I would love to see a progress of that because there are quite a few being supported so far. Also what I think didn't attract me to PINK at that time was the ROI % for staking which at the time I think it was like 600% or something like that, and I thought that was insane. I know that has been changed.

If there is an effective method based on smart contracts where the funds collected through the ICO are solely for the purpose of creating a transparent ecosystem for charities I think this use case can give some light to the negative view we all have about ICOs.

They only have a couple official partnerships so far... one with Cardiac Kids, and the "Education Pool" goes to "Zwischenraum Thurgau" They have mentioned in the recent past that a partnership was in the works, and I just noticed thanks to you that they added a couple new pools on their donate.with.pink site. The new "Humanitarian" one says "We will be revealing our new partner soon! We are extremely excited about this partnership." and the new "Environmental Stewardship" one says "This pool's stakes will be dedicated to helping preserve the environment for our posterity. We are looking for partners, until then the staking rewards will be sent to separate wallets managed by the Pinkcoin team until a partner is found, at which point they will take over ownership of the wallets."

The other pools are as follows:
Relief - "Every coin minted on this address will be sent to help those in need."
Administrative - "This wallet will remain building until a voting system is put inplace so the community can choose which projects funding goes to. This pool's stakes will be dedicated to amp up marketing and technology developments of the Pinkcoin network."

and within the "Rain Forest"
Rain Cloud: "It is always raining PINK on those supporting the network by staking. Every coin minted by the Rain Cloud will be divided evenly across each address that has staked within the last 24 hours."
Elder Tree: "The elder tree supports the whole forest with seeds. Every stake from the Elder Tree goes to a random address supporting the network.
Acorns: "A forest must nourish even the smallest of acorns to survive. Every time coins are minted on this address, they are sent to the smallest wallets on the network."
