We Arrived Safely in Panama City Beach Last Night

in #hurricaneirma7 years ago (edited)

Good morning, Steemians!

I just wanted to make an update post letting all of you guys know who were following my hurricane updates that we made it to Panama City Beach alive and well. We went through some crazy traffic, and saw crazy lines for gas.

Luckily, we had put a 5 gallon tank in the trunk filled with gas although the smell inside the car was terrible so we had to keep opening the windows every once in a while.

This ensured that we made it without having to wait in the long lines for gas on the way.

We weren't going to have anywhere to stay, but my friend told me we could stay with his family in this three story house they rented out. It took us 13 hours to get here from North Fort Myers, but we made it to Panama City Beach!

As of right now, it looks like the hurricane is going to come up the west coast of Florida, which would be devastating for our home. I'm just glad to be with friends and be alive though. You can rebuild a home, but not a life!

I will continue to keep you guys posted.

Glad u got out ok. Nice to see the lil guys chillin on the bed to. Wishing u and everyone the best!

Thanks buddy :)

You are absolutely right.

My god, i have to check the storm. Best of luck. My son vacations near there frequently, coming from Louisiana. Actually for his graduation party he went with a bunch of kids to Destin.

I am hoping it starts breaking up in the mountains of Cuba to give us a chance. :( Yes we are very near Destin. Thanks bud!

You're right..safety of your family is paramount. I pray your home and property remain safe.

Thank you so much :)

I have a few friends that stayed in the Miami. One had no place to go and the other is staying because his parents do not want to leave and he won't leave them by themselves. He made his wife take their kid and head to GA. Even though it doesn't look as bad as earlier in the week, I know that it can (and most likely will be) still destructive to the city. I'm scared for my friends. I was living down their during Isaac and Sandy, and the people in the area didn't even blink an eye (that was the first time I had been in any type of hurricane threat). This one doesn't look very forgiving. Be safe down there!

Glad to hear you made it out safely. Now I hope your home holds up well.

Thanks!
