Hunting a Perfect Farm.

in #hunting5 years ago (edited)

Well today we spent all day hunting the Farm in Holyoke, Colorado that I spoke so highly of yesterday. I have never seen a farm quite like this one. A farm where it is very obvious that wildlife habitat was well thought out when planing out this huge section of land. Imagine 7 quarter mile irrigated pivot sections will all the corners planted in CRP grass and tree rows complete with plum thickets that stretch over 800 yards. It was everything you want to see as a hunter getting ready to walk miles upon miles in thick heavy cover with blown in snow. It’s a workout for sure, and the fact it was blowing wind conditions of about 35mph made it extra challenging because the birds were really moving fast.

The overall sentiment of the day was disappointing. We saw hundred and hundreds of birds, as a matter of fact we saw so many birds it was nearly impossible to have the luck we had. Hunting pheasant in America does not allow you to shoot Hen’s (the females) because we need them for re-production. These fields were loaded with hens but very few roosters to shoot. We did end up with 12 birds but we should have shot out limit of 21 in the first hour with the farm we were lucky to be on.

All in all it was a great trip and we still have one more day to go. I’ll write about it tomorrow.

Well, tomorrow is another day.

As the season appears, they react to human interaction and move almost immediately. "Ringnecks will move to more isolated patches that are harder for most hunters to reach. But, I realize I am preaching to the choir and you know this better than me... but....

Good luck tomorrow! ;)

What a great hunting experience you are having in your hunting adventure, I know there are more animals to hunt as your quest continues. Keep updating us with your activities there @broncnutz

What did you hunted?

Show us how you cook them up. My mouth is already watering. Do you wash them down with a cold Coors Banquet beer?

You gone hunting chicken 😂😂😂😂, boy this is hilarious...
