How To Upload Photos for Steemit Articles Using Imgur and Guide on The Right Direct Links To Paste Here

in #howto8 years ago (edited)

It's been several weeks since I've been seeing posts or cry for helps that say their photos in the post won't load or the image host they are using doesn't work. Yesterday, I bumped into the same situation in some of the entries so I came up with this post although my articles are already planned. It won't hurt anyway. I am using imgur and here's a simple walk through on how you could upload pics in your phone without even downloading the app.

I took screenshots of the process so just follow the lit bulb and whatever is says on that dialogue box.(Why do they call it a box - it's not even square.)

Register first.

It would ask for your email and to set your password. Now, make a back up of that.

It would send you a verification email but you won't have to do that right away. You could go straight ahead with uploading your pics.

You will have to log in or sign in first. Just fill in those blanks to log in / sign in.

A whole drop down would pop out to the right.

Click on Albums. If it's your first time using it just jump to the next one.

Since, I have been using it for some time, you can see that it already has albums in it. If it's your first time you would only see - create album. Click on that and another page would load.

That other page would be asking for you to give the album a title, set the privacy ( I always use hidden because I want the pics exclusive to just imgur and here. ) Once the privacy is set, click on "select image " next.

It would lead you to another page with an image of a phone in a black box. On the upper right you'd find a cloud - like icon. Click on that first. Then on the plus sign in the small yellow green box on the upper right of the black box.

It would automatically lead you to your pic gallery and all you have to do is click on the image you would want to upload. It would bring you back to the same page but with a confirmation of the file name of the file you would want to upload. If the file name is wrong just click back on that plus sign in the yellow green box again and it'll lead you back to the pictures you want to upload.

If the file name is right - proceed to clicking upload.

It' going to lead you to a page that says "Uploading Image".

When the image finally shows on your screen just copy the link on top of the picture. If your drop down of links look different than this - just look for the one that says BBCode(Forums) and copy paste it on your draft or directly on the page where we write our story here.

It's different on the PC. It's a lot easier though so just log in when you have already registered. This time just follow the arrow and what ever it says on it.

Click on the drop down that says; "New Post".

Click on "UPLOAD IMAGES" next.

This page would show and all you have to do is drop the picture or pictures on top of that cloud icon with an arrow in it. I suggest that you try uploading one picture first if its your first time.

The image would automatically load and when it does, click on it and a direct link beside the word COPY will appear. Ignore all of those and look for the small box beside copy with a white arrow head pointing downwards. Click on that drop down menu.

A drop down of choices will pop out click on "Get share links".

Look for the one that says; "BBCode (Forums) and click the Copy on the blue box beside it.

Copy on your article draft. The link would appear with [img] [img] - just delete those.

Good luck and I hope this helps anyone who is having a hard time uploading multiple pictures these days or is not posting because you don't know where and how to post pictures.

I also made this walk through about using tinypic.com back when I was new here and we could also use that image hosting though I prefer imgur now since it's a user friendlier image host based on my experience at the moment.

If you have any questions please feel free to ask below the comment. Thank you all very much.

I took the screenshots with my Samsung Galaxy Note 1 and PC images with my Samsung Galaxy A3 2016 edition.
