Rusty tools? Check this out!

Hey yall! How's your weekend treating you?

As always on the weekend, we hit a few yard sales today.

It had rained last night, so a few things were wet at the entrance of a barn we went into. Being a mechanic, one thing caught my eye in the corner...a tool box. I walked over to find a water, rust, and mud filled disaster.
At first I was going to walk away, but I remembered hearing of a trick I wanted to try. I walked up to the guy and offered him 10 bucks for it, and he took it. I brought it home and let it dry out. IMG_20170714_114230.jpg

Remembering we had a bit of vinegar left from when we made pickles, I tossed the whole contents of the box into the vinegar and let it sit for a couple hours. I came back to find the vinegar very brown, bubbling, and steeming (see what I did there?). "Must be working", I thought.

After soaking them @alovelymess and I gently rubbed very fine steel wool over them and rinsed them with soapy water. This was the results!

Crazy, right?! I got rained out, so I need to finish the plastic box tomorrow. I will post an update of the whole finished box! I need more vinegar!

I LOVE getting feedback! Do you have suggestions or comments on how to improve my posts? If so, post them below, I want to hear from you!

I had so much fun cleaning them with you!

Good! I enjoyed it as a well! :) :)

Vinegar is the bomb!

With an additive of baking soda, yes!

I don't like it solely because of the smell. Lol.

Pretty good score for $10, they cleaned up real nice.

Thanks! 4 drawers full of sockets, heck the 3 ratchets are worth $10.

Brand new tools.
