What Hoverboards are the best?, tested 5 self-balancing boards

in #hoverboard7 years ago

We have previously tested both Airwheel Unicycle - which is a self-balancing vehicle with one wheel - we have tested the self-balanced three-wheel X-Robot with Seat - that allows you to ride and we've tested the Segway classic and the Sagway challenger Ninebot.

Now we have tested five self-balancing boards - also called hoverboard, balance board, balance scooter or stand-wheel.

This is a row of two wheels, like Segway and Ninebot, but here's no control to hold.

The boards we have tested are:

  1. Hoverboard from Rusta
  2. Airboard Denver 8 "from Coolstuff
  3. ORB Wheel X4 from Teknikmagasinet
  4. Andersson Balance Sheet 2.3 from NetOnNet
  5. HX X1 SUV BT 8 "from XXL

You must be over 16 years to drive hoverboard!

One of these rules is that you must be 16 years, also to run self-balancing boards and unicycle. Do you let the child drive, even if it is not 16, you can lose the patch!

How convenient is it when you can not drive on a damp road - what should you do if it starts to rain while you're out with the board? Should you carry 11 kilos under your arm all the way home?

When we are also warned to drive after the battery indicator indicates that the board needs charging because you may risk being thrown off and it is recommended to use sports noise so it will be easier to handle cases - then we will admit that we are something thinking about climbing the boards and driving as far as we can, as we first thought ...

What should we do if we are 1 mile from home when the battery indicator starts to shed? Should we leave the donation and carry it home? When it weighs 11 kilos, it's dirty - and really completely unmanageable? (If we have escaped any cases in good condition?).

Here's how we tested:

There is a definite requirement for self-balancing vehicles when used on public roads. You can read more about this, but in short, there is a requirement for both front and rear lights, reflex and audio signal. There are also requirements for braking power and other.

There are none of the boards that meet all of these requirements. We have therefore tested the boards in the closed / private area.

We have tested driving skills like how they are handled, how easy they are to maneuver and swing how they are going on and off and how comfortable they are to drive over longer stretches.

Rusta hoverboard
It may therefore be tempting to choose this as a beginner board, but beware:

This board is very nervous and certainly does not fit for the beginner - at least not if the goal is to get a good mood feeling.

If there is something you should not do, then buy it - not to anyone!

The worst thing is that it jumps and bounces in dire directions when you get on the board. This is experienced as very uncomfortable - beginner or not!

The best boards let you get on top of the board and balance it out before you can calmly start driving. This hurries back and forth only you place your foot slightly on top and it's not easy to get the other leg on when the board will not rest!

It's also one of the worst when it comes to driving skills: It does not respond well to your movements so it does not get very accurate considering how it's swinging. And not least, it shakes and sends vibrations of another world into the legs when we drive on a bit of rugged asphalt - which makes us reasonably numb in our legs shortly.

According to the specifications, the board must have two driving modes, but we can not sense any difference in one direction or the other.

The top speed must be 12 kilometers per hour (km / h), but we pulled it up at 15.5 km / h before the board said if we had to slow down.

Plus, it comes with carrying case and cover on the drawer inlet. Is water resistant - but not waterproof, so you should avoid wet roads and water ponds. This is the lightest board, it weighs 9 kilos.

ORB WheeL X4
It bounces uncontrollably around when we go on and have some uneven sneakers. There are so many strange things on the board that we simply get a little scared.

This too is nervous and partially uncontrolled back and forth when you try to get on the board - though not as nervous as Rusta's board - yet it makes it feel uncomfortable.

Here too, there is a lot of vibration when driving on uneven surfaces - which quickly gives numbness in the legs, although straight should be right and not as bad as Rusta's wide.

The worst thing, however, is that it feels very aggressive while driving.

We had more experiences where we simply had to jump off the board because it was completely out of control: A slight unevenness is what makes us feel that the board starts to turn uncontrolled from side to side as if the gyro is right simply getting trouble balancing.

The discomfort does not get less when the board continues to roll around and around after we have jumped off - which may be unfortunate if something should happen ... or some ...

During the time we have tested it, we also experience several times that it goes "in spin" in all directions when we go on board - and then it locks in the joints between the two plates so we must use physical power and break the plates back in position.

The board is well directionally stable and comes up and downhill, and even though it is better than Rusta on swing and driving characteristics, this is not very precise when it comes to swinging and driving characteristics.

The battery and balance indicator can only be sharpened in sunlight / daylight - so hard to see if it's on or off.

This is simply not recommended to spend money on.

Andersson Balance Scooter 2.3
GET THE BEST IN THE TEST: Andersson Balance Scooter 2.3 is easy run - and does not find any nonsense. Ah, we love the color - and we like this size on the board.

This is also one of the better boards to run on: It behaves calmly when you go on and off and are easy to swing with.

This board also has two driving modes, which are marked by more direct driving in sport mode. Most noticeable, however, is the audible difference: It simply buys much more in sports mode, a bit like when children play that they drive a car and say "bumble ... bum" ... some will think it's fun-others might want to lean against to think it's something ... robust ...

However, there is a lot of printing to switch between the different modes, and it is impossible to see which mode it is in, as there is no indication that shows what mode you are in on the board.

IMPORTANT TO SEE: This is the display for battery and balance indicators. However, it is impossible to see anything there in sunlight - and you almost can not figure it on a gray day either.

The display that shows the battery and activation indicator is impossible to see in sunlight, and also very difficult to see in normal daylight. Thus it is impossible to see if the board is on or off. It's silly. This board from Andersson is not intended for driving on wet or damp surfaces. It also has no protection over the charging port.

Uncomfortable amount of vibrations when driving on rough roads and over unevenness. No protection over the charging port, and it is not intended for traffic on either wet or humid road. Is the lighter steady in the test: 9.7 kilos.

Airboard Denver 8"
LIGHTED: Airboard Denver 8" is among the best: it's easy run and stable. But heavy and big. These are among the heaviest and largest boards in the test, along with the HX board: This weighs 11.2 kilos - and is therefore 2 kilos heavier than the lightest board in the test, from Rusta.

But, unlike the Rusta board: These are among the best boards in the test:

source

It is very comfortable and easy run. It's easy to swing and you have good control.

It is also calm and comfortable to get on and off - so there are no nervous twitches we get with the boards from Rusta and ORB Wheel. And this also feels very safe and stable to stand on. Here we do not get any surprises. It's damn stable. And we get good speed even uphill.

Fun decorative lights on the wheelbows - but not in front. But it hurts a bit from the wheelbows when we drive.

Here's also no cover on the charging port. This is only for use in dry weather - and, according to the dealer, must not be exposed to water impact.

HX X1 SUV BT
BEST IN TEST: The HX X1 SUV BT, which is the front we are on the front, is best tested. It's best to drive and also have fun with built-in speaker. The downside is the price; This is also the most expensive test.

Yes! If you're not there before, you'll be king in the street when you're cruising with this, with the music dazzling out of the board's speakers.

source

This is our absolute favorite in the test, and there are several reasons for it - the built-in Bluetooth speakers that let you stream music from your phone are just one of the reasons. The main reasons we think this is best in test is obviously the driving ability.

HX is simply the best board to run:

  • It's quiet and stable when you're going on and off the board
  • It is extremely responsive to your movements and since it actually swings where you want it to swing and when you want it to swing it is very easy run.
  • And most importantly, this is the best of the best suspension - which makes it most comfortable to drive on uneven surfaces, with the least impact and shaking up in the legs.

It's getting boring to just stand right up and down on a hoverboard, and that's what's doing well: The HX board offers the opportunity to drag the activity on to precision precision driving. And with music from the speakers, this is just the top.

You must be "on" all the time, because the board is so responsive that it must be "guessed" constantly:

It can easily get out of course if you encounter an unevenity and you do not mind adjusting the course. But it is also the property that makes the board so good to swing with - so that price we would like to pay.

Plus, that the board can at least withstand running on a damp road, and that it has protection over the charging port - but you can not drive this in rainy weather, it's not one of the boards that can withstand. There should be two driving modes, but we can not feel any difference.
