Barnsdall (OK) Barn
Yes, you read the title of the post correctly, an old barn near BARNSdell, Oklahoma! The town was founded in 1905 and "...originally named Bigheart, for the Osage Chief James Bigheart..." An oil refinery was established in 1910 to handle production from the Bigheart Oil Fields, and was sold to the Barnsdall Oil Company in 1921. Sometime during 1922, the town was renamed after Mr. Barnsdall of the oil company.

With big holes in the roof and boards falling off the facade, there's no telling if this barn is still in use or not. I think I need to start a foundation to save beautiful old barns like this one... 😥
This large structure is located off County Road 2409 about five miles south of the town of Barnsdall. It is situated in a large field with dozens of acres of farmland adjacent to it, as evidenced by the aerial photo, below:

Think of the peace, quiet, and solitude that living in such a location would probably provide! A big 'Thank you!' to Ren & Scott of @xcountytravelers for capturing this lovely scene for us! A portion of the rewards on this post are going to you!

Sensational to be in the country, the fresh atmosphere renews the energies.
A few years ago, I bought a house with a barn similar to this in the state of Michigan. It was a house mostly used for the family to get together in the summers and afforded us space.
Ignorance is never bliss, don't let them fool you.
Unfortunately for me, before I became aware of what needed to be done, part of the barn collapsed. How I wish I could have been smart enough and rich enough to have gone in and given it a new life. I still lament the loss. Moreso because it really is a part of history we will never recapture.
Thank you always for the beauty you and post as we scour the countryside, looking for barns.
Have a great day!
